Cathy's Wedding

You may have read my post in Coffee Break topic about whether or
not I should go to Cathy's bridal shower. For those that haven't
read that thread, Cathy and DD#2 have been BFFs since
kindergarten.
I've started to post here about a few rocks in the road, but
they seemed to work themselves out.
DD#2 has been very patient but firm with Cathy on many accounts,
like when Cathy wanted to go to high-priced resort town for her
bachelorette party DD#2 calmly explained "We can go there, but
I, personally, would not be able to afford any of the events you
want to do because the hotel-stay is way to costly. Think about
your girls." Cathy finally agreed and they went elsewhere, did a
bunch of stuff for less than the cost of resort town.
This is the latest that DD#2 told me. Cathy asked her to put
together an emergency kit for the day of the wedding. Okay, I
get that (DD#1's paid wedding coordinator had an emergency kit
filled with band aids, aspirin, stain remover, tissues, etc.)
and it did come in handy. So it is a good idea.
But I had to laugh at Cathy's list. Please tell me if I'm wrong
or is this over the top? My comments are in green.
◦ Tweezers Just in case your eyebrows decided to grow
together all of a sudden?
◦ Pads/tampons (Cathy will probs have her period)
◦ Ibuprofen
◦ Imodium (Cathy has)
◦ Zofran (Cathy has)
◦ Pepto Not sure what this is, maybe Tums type of thing?
◦ Tide to go
◦ Q Tips For an emergency ear cleaning?
◦ Bandaids
◦ Fashion Tape Meh. Either one or the other (see next
item)
◦ Sewing Kit
◦ Mints
◦ Floss Oh! No! The world's going to end! I need to floss
my teeth!
◦ Compact mirror All venues have bathrooms, use that
mirror
◦ Comb
◦ Hairspray
◦ Bobby pins
◦ Hair rubber bands
◦ Safety pins
◦ Liquid IV Hangover remedy? In an emergency kit?
◦ Deodorant
◦ Tissue
◦ Nail file
◦ Nail glue ???
◦ Eyelash glue ???
◦ Setting powder ???
◦ Brides lipstick
There are some things on the list that I didn't comment on, but
still thought them iffy.
What would you include in your emergency kit? Is there anything
important that is missing? Is there anything on the list that
you would definitely not include?
Thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!

I think I would give her a pass on the tweezers. At a friend's
wedding the bride discovered, on her final look in the mirror,
that she had a single black hair growing out of her chin and we
were dispatched to reception to see if they had any tweezers -
fortunately they did, as I think my friend would have been
convinced everyone in the entire building could see it.
(Particularly since her husband was the kind of man who
definitely would have pointed at it and laughed.)

Pepto is short for Pepto Bismal.
The Knot website has a longer "emergency kit" list with many of
the same stuff so I assume that's where Cathy got it from. Is
your daughter paying for all this? Instead of buying everything
individually, check around the house for things you already
have, like Q-tips and Bandaids. A mini sewing kit is $1 at
walmart. Actually, I suggest walmart's sample/travel size aisle
for many of those things, and then the dollar tree store if they
can't beat $1.25.

I really don't see anything wrong or "over the top" with any of
this, and some, if not most of those items could be useful for
more than just one thing. Q-tips are great for fixing small
makeup mishaps. Tweezers can be used for huge list of things.
It's nice to have a compact mirror in case you want to check
something quickly and save a trip to the bathroom.
I think your comments are kind of judgemental. If it gives her
peace of mind to have all these things handy, so be it. It's
her day, and I don't think any of it is all that outrageous.
She's not asking for her wedding dress designer to be there to
make adjustments, or a police escort to the venue.

A lot of those things, I keep in my purse, car, or work locker.
For some odd reason, I also keep a small, charged flashlight,
tape measure and eyeglass repair kit. And I've needed and used
all three multiple times. I really don't think the list is bad.
To me, it sounds planned and prepared.

Thank you all for opening my eyes. I guess I thought this list
was over the top because there are some things on it that
surprised me. I guess I'm old fashioned in the way that when
something happens, you just make the best and deal with it.

DD#2 has already absconded a box of band aids, a bunch of Q-tips
and a small baggie of Tums. Me: ??? She: "What? I'm going to
bring it all back!" LOL! She did tell me that she plans on going
to the Dollar Store (yes, she is paying for it).

Yet another reason you can call me unaware. I leave the house
with my keys, CCs/pocket money/ID and mostly forget my phone (I
don't carry a purse). Maybe I should put a small emergency kit
in my car. I used to have one at all times when the DDs were
young, but not anymore.
Again, I thank you all for your perspective and appreciate you
putting me in my place. ;D

Add to the list:
hand sanitizer.
At my sons wedding the Brides aunt split her skirt. I loaned
her my shawl as she rushed out to procure another outfit to
wear.

It is quiet a long list. I always assumed these emergency kits
were for anyone in the bridal party. So while the bride may not
need the tweezers, MOB may end up with an errant chin hair that
needs plucking. I'd also assume some of these things would just
be in the makeup or toiletry bag the bride was bringing with
her. Like Qtips. I always have them in my makeup bag to wipe
stray eye shadow or mascara off.
The fashion tape is used very differently than the sewing kit. I
once had to sew an aunt of a groom into her dress right before
the wedding because the zipper split. At another wedding the
fashion tape came to the rescue when a new mom was no longer as
endowed as she had been when the bridesmaid's dress was fitted.
It kept the V neck securely in place.
I wouldn't expect your daughter to have to bare the expense of
all of the items. Hopefully the other bridesmaids have some of
them and can assist in completing the kit.
Yes to the IV drips for most likely a groomsman or bridesmaid as
well as the nausea medications.
The bride's lipstick reminded me of one of my cousins coming
into the bride's room at my wedding and asking for my lipstick.
I thought she wanted to borrow it but instead she said it was
her task to keep it with her anytime she saw I needed fresh
lipstick, she'd have it there for a touch up. I seldom wore
lipstick or reapplied it frequently so thought it was funny but
I have to say, it was nice to know someone was looking out for
me. By the end of the night, most of my makeup could have used a
touch up... but my lips looked great!
