Will it waffle?

I recently resurrected an old family favorite recipe for "Ice
Box Bran Muffins". Named such because the recipe makes a large
amount, but the batter can be kept in the fridge for about a
month so you can make a dozen here and there.
The grandkids had never had them, but loved them so ODD made a
batch when they returned home. They soon realized the time it
took to preheat the oven and bake them didn't fit well with
their schedules. Taking a cue from tik tok they put a muffin
sized scoop on their waffle iron. :o
They turned out great!! I'm enjoying it, since I can halve the
recipe for myself and enjoy a single serving with little effort.

My recipe from the church cookbook circa 1970 ish (the cover
fell off a while ago, so I don't have the actual date).
1 cup Crisco 1 qt. buttermilk
2 1/2 cups sugar 4 cups Kellogg's All Bran
4 eggs
Mix above ingredients in order given and pour 2 cups boiling
water over.
Add:
5 cups flour 5 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. salt 2 cups bran flakes
This makes 1 gallon. Will keep in refrigerator for a month.
Bake muffins at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Makes about 60
muffins.
Applesauce can be substituted for the crisco (shortening). I
usually do about 1/2 cup crisco and 1/2 cup applesauce to retain
the texture.
My sister just made this using Raisen Bran instead of the bran
flakes and she really liked it.
