       another substitution ingredient

Tonight I am NOT baking cookies for Vegan daughter. I started
putting ingredients on the counter and realized the recipe calls
for APPLESAUCE. I rarely have that on hand so the cookies will
not be mixed & baked tonight.
In the future do you know of a non perishable sub for
applesauce? I didn't even have fresh apples or pears around to
       microwave and turn into sauce.
       Vegan oatmeal cookies
       1 Cup margarine
       3/4 Cup brown sugar
       1/3 C sugar
       1/2 Cup applesauce*************
       2 teaspoon vanilla
       3 Cup oats
       1.5 Cup flour
       1 teaspoon baking soda
       1 Cup raisins
maybe I should buy a jar of applesauce and freeze it in 1/2 Cup
       portions?

You can buy shelf stable snack pack applesauce, comes in a small
cup, (3 ounces?), six to a pack. Very handy for baking.

I have a few recipes that require applesauce and do as Vintage
Gal suggested. I buy the Mott's no sugar. They are about $2.50
for 6 4oz cups. I've found most recipes that need them want a
       half cup of sauce.
