should I place another order?
By: Rho Date: July 25, 2022, 10:26 am

Several months ago IRLBF mom passed away. I sent a bouquet of
sympathy flowers from an online florist. Florist sent me follow
up survey & I mentioned what was delivered didnt match photo on
site. I'm not good with words and ment 'not quite;but good
enough'. Next thing I knew my $$ was refunded to credit card so
flowers were free. I feel guilty.
All I can think to do is order friend another bouquet perhaps
for her family Thanksgiving dinner. And explaine why I'm
sending a second bouquet
Do I owe the florist another order? Any other good ideas?

You don't owe anyone anything. You gave an accurate survey; the
store chose to give you a refund.
If you have plans to send flowers again AND you feel like using
the same florist, you could do so. But you have absolutely no
obligation.

I also don't think you should feel guilty. You answered the
survey truthfully and received a refund. Another company might
not have given you anything back. You never know. If I were
you I'd only use this florist again if you have occasion to do
so; not because of a guilt feeling about what happened on this
occasion.
I recently received an order of canned cat food from my favorite
on line pet company. The package was damaged and several of the
cans were dented and one had to be thrown away. I decided to
inform the company because it seemed like the cause was because
of how the box had been packed for shipment. To my surprise
they gave me a $5 refund on my credit card. I thanked them and
said that I hadn't expected anything as a result of my email;
which was to just inform them of shoddy packaging.
As long as you are honest in reporting problems to a company I'm
all for reporting them. Nothing to feel guilty about IMO.

I'm not a fan of complaining . . . I'm talking mostly about food
orders. It is what it is, and people make mistakes (left off the
extra dressing or side sauce type of thing). Not my hill to die
on.
Recently, I placed an order and an entire $15 item was not
delivered. Again, no real biggie (there was plenty of food) but
$15! I decided to ask for a refund. No problem, no hassle, no
questions of proof were asked. $15 off was applied to my credit
card.
EvilMe wondered "How often can I get away with something so easy
like this?" Just say that something wasn't delivered when it
really was, and I'd get that item for free!
But I'm not like that. I couldn't scam the system and feel good
about myself.
Rho -- You're not like that either.

The company was doing you an 'honest'. They want to keep your
business.

Please do not explain why you're sending a second bouquet. I
think that would put a damper on the gift. If you feel the need
to actually spend the allotted monies then do so, with a
heart-felt "Thinking of you" note.
You do not owe the florist another order, but, maybe, in good
faith see what the second order looks like?
All that being said, if you feel another floral gift would be
over the top according to your relationship with the family,
then do nothing.

I agree with the others; you did nothing wrong. This is a
company who handled a survey correctly. So often I will complete
a survey and rather than a "thank you for your feedback", I get
excuses as to why they can't do X, Y, and Z. ::) (I didn't
want a justification. You asked, so I was giving you my
experience.) To me, their response would probably warrant a
second chance, but when I WANT to send flowers.
I also agree that explaining the reason for sending the flowers
makes the gesture feel less special. If you want to send the
second bouquet, let it be a "thinking of you" or "Happy
Thanksgiving" sentiment. Not "the florist messed up, so here's a
replacement".
Something that I have been told... when you order from one of
the major national florist companies (and I'm not sure that you
did) that they actually contract the work out to a local smaller
florist. Those florist only get a part of the money and they
have to recreate the website photos and may not have exactly
what they need or have been given enough money to make it as
spectacular as the picture. Your better bet is to find a florist
local to where you are sending the flowers and call them up. You
might not get to see a picture, but they can do a better job
with your full budgeted money with what they have available to
them. Not as easy from the customer standpoint, but I hear
that's the best way to get a great flower arrangement.

Completely agree. We always look for a local florist and call
directly. You get more bang for your buck. They will be able to
tell you what they have available and you can give instruction
about colour, style, etc. And you can check their reviews.

You're fine. You didn't contact them to complain. They contacted
you to fill out a survey. It sounds like this company want
honest opinions so they can learn what they are doing right and
what went wrong.
Florists probably throw out a ton of flowers everyday so the
cost of a few bouquets is probably worth the future good will of
their customers. Now that you know they take customer service
seriously, you'll probably order from them again.

I agree with others and agree that you gave honest feedback.
I wouldn't order another arrangement for the family. Remember,
it's the thought that counts. There is no need for the family to
be aware of the financial transaction between you and the
florist.
I would probably try to use the florist again as I would take
their response as a very positive sign that they take customer
service seriously. But I might call and chat about what I wanted
versus ordering from the webstie.

What the florist did was to give you excellent customer service
in the hopes that the next time you need a florist, you'll use
them.
So that's what I would do. Use them in the future when I needed
to send flowers. Good customer service generates loyalty, at
least from me!
But no, I wouldn't go out of my way to order something I didn't
need.

I feel much better from all your responses. Yes this was a
major US national PROfessional FLORist. I don't order flowers
often but husband sends his Mom flowers for Valentines Day.
I'll tell him to make the next one a bit bigger than he normally
would.
