It'll be Thursday evening through Sunday morning. The party is
Saturday evening.

So, two breakfast meals (Sunday's is taken care of, DH is
cooking, correct?) I see nothing wrong with the same type of
breakfast treatment for both days (gellchom's suggestion). You
could always switch it up with different types of breads,
fruits, cheeses, etc.
Two lunches -- Sandwich platters. Again, you can switch it up
with maybe a pasta salad one day and potato salad the next (or
fruit salad, cole-slaw, etc.) Maybe a crock-pot something for
Friday's lunch . . . I'm thinking people would want to eat a
lighter lunch on Saturday before the evenings feast/party.
What time does the dinner start on Saturday? maybe you could
even do a later breakfast brunch type of thing on Saturday, if
the party starts early enough. With smaller portions of
breakfast and lunch foods put out at the same time.
and one dinner on Friday night (unless people are arriving for
dinner on Thursday) -- Fire up that grill! ;D Make some simple
appetizers (e.g., cream cheese flattened on a plate cover with
cocktail sauce and top with canned crab, served with crackers.
Easy to make and always a crowd pleaser), a crudité platter or
garden salad.
Dessert? -- Ice cream. Enough said. ;D
I'd like to suggest that you have a bowl of fresh fruit
(bananas, oranges, peaches, etc.) along with individually
wrapped power/granola bars on your kitchen table at all times
for between-meal snacking.
For easy clean-up I'd like to suggest eco-friendly paper plates
and utensils like this
HTML https://www.amazon.com/utensils-Biodegradable-Disposable-Dinnerware-Compostable/dp/B082MZFGT7/ref=sr_1_11?crid=2ELWV5041GD11&keywords=eco-friendly+paper+plates&qid=1658257349&sprefix=eco-friend%2Caps%2C341&sr=8-11
Or, if you're totally against using paper products for meal
service, what about contacting your family members about a
rotating clean-up schedule? I think this would be better done
before hand, instead of giving a shout-out at the time of "Who
would like to help me clean up after this meal?"
Of course, your family might be the type where everybody will
offer to help clean up after a meal ;D . . . or not. It's your
call here. You know your family best.
Remember that the job of the hostess is to see to your guests'
comforts. NOT to impress them with 'fancy'. Sometimes simple is
best.
I hope you enjoy planning this milestone family event. Have fun
with it and do not stress too much.
Please keep us updated with all of your thoughts!

Take your Blackstone Grill/griddle and use it to cook all meals.
For breakfast - pancake, eggs, bacon, toast, sausage, ham,
hashbrowns, smashed cinnamon rolls. Items that can be cooked in
a pan on it are grits, oatmeal or biscuits.
For lunch and dinner - burgers, hotdogs, Philly cheesesteak,
quesadillas, fajitas, stir fry, steaks, shrimp, etc. Pans on the
griddle can cook baked beans, fried fish/chicken, mac n' cheese.
I get a lot of good ideas from a Blackstone Grilling group on
FB.
Another idea - have one meal (lunch?) where everyone fixes their
own sandwiches with fixings you have provided.

For one evening or lunch, I'd offer a baked potato bar. It is
super easy to throw in 20 plus potatoes to bake and then offer a
variety of self serve toppings like chili beans, sour cream, and
cheese. You can also get some of the premade spinach artichoke
dip that works well as a potato topper. The potatoes stay warm
easily in a cooler. This might be a good idea for Thursday for
when people arrive. Then any left over potatoes can become a
baked potato salad for another day.
A premade Antipasto salad can be thrown together and served cold
for a lunch. It's basically boils some pasta and then open jars
and dump. I usually do penne pasta and then add slices of
pepperoni, artichokes in water, garbanzo beans, sliced roasted
red peppers, sliced canned olives, a few cut up tomatoes, and
water ever cheeses you like. I usually make up a vinaigrette but
you can defiantly use a store bought Italian dressing. Just mix
up in the morning and leave in the fridge for people to self
serve. Maybe offer some nice breads or crackers and some fruit.

Thank you for the great ideas and recipes! I'm definitely going
with serve-yourself breakfast except for Sunday. I'll get some
pre-made sandwich bites and sides for lunch Friday, and those
can carry over into Saturday afternoon, along with bread and
sandwich ingredients. Friday, I think that we'll do something on
the grill - I'll have to ask my husband about that.
Hmmm, I love your antipasto salad recipe! I think I'll make it
next week.
I'm going to start a separate thread for gluten free suggestions
since I completely forgot that my niece and her daughter have
Celiac disease.

You can make the antipasta salad gluten free. Just leave some of
the stuff separate from the pasta and offer salad greens for the
gluten free ones to toss with the toppings.

We’ve done this before in my family. But I’m not quite sure I’m
understanding everything so I will try.
Some people will be staying in the same residence as your
family, others will be staying in another home.
There are no restaurants available.
There is a grocery store approximately a 30 minute drive away.
You have one day covered.
What we have done is supply coffee, tea, cereal, milk, bread,
cold cuts and muffins, that’s it, for both homes and let them
know that will be there.
We would also give directions to the grocery store.
We would tell them that that one day is covered.
And would let them know we expect them to bring what else they
want from where they live, or to shop at that store we gave them
directions for, for anything else.
However, while I like cooking and participating in a one day
thing, I can’t be bothered for days and I am such a picky eater,
there’s no way anyone could fill a place with food for days and
hit most of what I would eat. Although peanut butter and jam
would suit me, but not be pleasant for say three days.
My special weapon for such a situation is “the aunties”. This
could be a Persian thing or an Eastern thing in general, or
maybe you Westerners have a similar trick, but if there will be
family gathered, and food needed, they will be driving up there
with enough food to feed an army, and they will do the cooking
and they will take surveys on whose Kabob
Koobideh is the best, and whose Tahchin was the most moist or
whatever.
I am lucky enough to have women in my family that would lie,
sabotage and cheat to be claimed “the best maker of food”.
So if you have any of these aunties, or similar, as soon as you
say “I’m providing the basics, and the feast for the
festivities, but you’re on your own otherwise” they will make
sure everyone is fed. And those of us that prefer a fried egg
and oatmeal will bring that.
Make sure to invite these people to every social event you’re
not really into cooking for. Or anything at all.
These women can be handled. If you’ve got a certain menu and you
want to control it, you must give them something but with that
you’re not allowing them to take everything.
“ I have everything planned to serve auntie but we can’t do
without your “almond cookies”, “date squares””. Whatever.
Keep them in your back pocket and praise them endlessly.

JeanFromBNA -- any updates? How did it go? Or if it hasn't
happened yet, are you well prepared?
Just curious ;)
