Where I live, the only place a hat must be removed - by everyone
- is the Legion.
I wouldn't worry about wearing a hat indoors otherwise, even if
it is a ball cap. There are so many people who wear hats for
medical reasons - cancer treatment, alopecia or oogyda's surgery
example - that most people don't bat an eye. If your hat
matches your 'ensemble', you're fine.

I have been to afternoon tea at many places in Toronto (King
Eddy, Royal York, Windsor Arms, etc) and there are always a few
ladies wearing hats. And always lots of girls in fancy dresses
and hats.

It turns out I needn't have worried...it wasn't a really fancy
tea place, and there was a guy there in a baseball hat!
That said, I'm glad I had all of your info and opinions in my
little arsenal. Thank you.
