Why was I invited to this wedding?

Background ... I worked for the federal government and C worked
for a contractor. The company C worked for provided on-site
services to the government and its employees were like coworkers
to the govt. employees. I was responsible for administering the
contract. C did high quality work and we were friendly but not
really friends. Then C did something illegal and in doing so
carelessly put the govt. in danger of having its computers
hacked by a foreign government. C was fired.
Forward about 10 years to today. I have not seen C in all this
time but she is a friend of a friend and I have heard some
highlights of how she is doing so I was aware hat she is getting
married this year. Last week C approached me on FB and asked me
for my address so she could mail an invitation to her wedding.
She must have mentioned the date so I was able to thank her for
the good intentions and tell her to save her the cost of postage
that I would be unable to attend.
I cannot for the life of me imagine why she would have invited
me to her wedding.

She mistook you for someone else? She knows someone else with
the same name? She is trying to get all the gifts she can? She
is inviting all the people with whom she has worked since you
last worked with her? I'm out of reasons!

One of my bridesmaids was under the impression she had to invite
everyone she ever knew or who was aware of her engagement to her
wedding.
She invited my two cousins who were also my bridesmaids to her
wedding because she met them at my wedding (they both declined)
and tried to get the address of the waiter who was present at
the restaurant where she got engaged.
She just didn't quite get that not everyone you encounter is a
friend who should be invited to your wedding.
Maybe C is like this?

I have friends who I haven't spoken to in years because we no
longer work or live around each other. But I wouldn't be
surprised if I got a wedding invitation. It's one of those
friendships that picks up right were we left off whenever we run
into each other no matter how many years went by.
Maybe she thinks you were closer than you actually were?

I suppose it's possible but I can't imagine why.
