An Odd Thing Happened That Made Me Laugh

I always put out my rubbish, recycling and yard waste stuff the
evening before pick up. Two weeks ago I dragged seven huge
clear plastic bags of shredded leaves to the curb. Before light
the next day six of them had disappeared. We were at first
wondering what happened. Then we said maybe someone in the
neighborhood took them to put on their garden. No problem
actually, just unexpected.
Then it happened again this week; except it was four bags out
and three taken. We decided that the bags that were left both
times was because one contained a group of sticks on top of the
shreds and the second was a bag of leaves not shredded. So --
this a.m. a little old man, nicely dressed, rang the doorbell.
He had in his hand one of my huge plastic bags that was filled
with more of the same. He politely introduced himself and said
that he lived on the next street over. He told me that he had
taken the bags of shreds to put on his garden. I told him that
we suspected that was what someone had done with them and he was
welcome to any more that we put out because the trees still have
a way to go before they are bare. He was quite certain that I
was to keep the bags and even mentioned the extra couple of
holes that I had poked in the sides. After he had gone we all
had a good chuckle. A little lift to the day, in my opinion!

Ah, yes. Those pesky little gardeners out there looking for
already shredded and bagged leaves and such for their compost in
order to give more health to their own gardens. How dare they
steal your trash! LOL!
Especially because he only took the already shredded leaf bags
and not all of your bags!
I hope you read my sarcasm in the above . . . it is awesome that
you were able to help out a neighbor in such a way.
Somebody's trash is another person's treasure.

What a sweet man-- he didn't want you to buy more bags or have
them go to waste.
