Just curious: was that Autocorrect getting creative there, or is
‘hair-brained’ a thing now in Leftpondia? It’s new to me.

It's actually been a thing since the 1500's... starting in
Rightpondia. It did start with the alternate spelling of hare
but it is an accepted spelling.

That may be so in Leftpondia (although I see that World Wide
Words advises against it); but over here, ever since the
spelling of the animal's name was finally settled as hare rather
than hair(e) , which in England was in the early 17th century
and in Scotland more than a century later, it has been
considered unequivocally as a mistake; any schoolteacher or
proofreader would put a strike through it without hesitation. It
may be increasing as an eggcorn
       (
  HTML https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eggcorn),
as so few people in the
UK these days are familiar with hares and their mad March
       behaviour.

It should be hare-brained, not hair-brained.
