I am actually more "concerned" with the descriptions of
"secondary" friends than I am with Missy flying first class.
That's weird to me and cliquish.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think secondary friends just mean
"friend of a friend." I don't think there's any insult meant.
For example, I went on vacation with my best friend "Jane" and
she invited her cousin (we've never met before). We all had a
blast. We've seen each other since because of Jane and enjoy
each other's company. But that's the extent of our friendship.
Jane is our connection and we're secondary friends to each
other.

Plus, I think it's sensible and Proper Etiquette for people to
acknowledge when their friendships aren't quite as strong, and
to adjust their expectations accordingly.
That's what keeps us from being offended when we're not invited
to someone's dinner party.
of course, no one should be rubbing anybody's nose in it, but
it's still appropriate to be aware.
And it sounds like Missy herself is the one who is acknowledging
how close she isn't to the other ladies.
