Congrats! I hope everything goes smoothly!
And as to the original question, there is no way I would accept
a facebook request from a potential employers. My Facebook
account is personal. If you're a work colleague, I'll connect
with you on LinkedIn. I can't imagine even asking a current
employee for a friend request, let alone a prospective employee.
(And this is coming from somebody who works for a very large org
and who has friends at the same org that I met completely
outside of work. Even those friends, while I'm connected to them
on Facebook, are in a "work" group that has a partially
restricted view of my profile, even though my profile is not
particularly controversial. When you work somewhere that is
partially funded by taxes, you have to be careful about even the
       most innocuous-seeming posts.)

I would definitely not friend and let them know my LinkedIn link
       instead.

Congrats on the interview! I am in the "no work friends" camp
too. Linked in is fine, but if you don't use Facebook for work,
there's no need for them to see it.

Wow. This sounds really good! Reading through it, I'm another
one who reacted negatively to the FB thing, but based on
everything else you said, it seems there's a high possibility
he's socially awkward or states things kind of strangely.
Still, that's just a side issue, since everything else sounds so
       positive.
