I guess it can be serious or tongue-in-cheek depending on the
person. The OP seems bothered by several entries that her niece
posted.
I think the OP should just unfriend niece if her views annoy
her.

It's hard to say whether or not it was tongue in cheek or not.
Given her many other posts that I don't share on the board, I
tend to think it's very much attention seeking and self
congratulatory back patting.
I do think it's time to unfollow her. For the sake of family
peace, I'll leave her as a friend, but AFAIK, I won't see her
posts if I unfollow her. It's worked for a couple of people who
post more than I want to see.

Regarding the green: Do you really believe that your niece
thinks the vaccine only works if a person posts that they got
it?
Regarding the red: Isn't anything posted to social media (or to
this board, for that matter) attention seeking? And a lot of it
self-congratulatory? At any rate, I agree it is time for you to
unfollow her. Different people use social media for different
reasons and in different ways and it appears the two of your
styles don't mesh well for you!

It’s a joke... In fact, I see it as commentary on the social
media trend of posting when one gets vaccinated.

Pretty sure this was a joke. As other posters have said, this is
a specific, jokey style of posting.
Ask yourself...if this were someone else posting, not niece who
has been so annoying on FB, would you have reacted this way?
Maybe it's time to hide her feed, so you can choose when you
want to "catch up" with her; you can do it for 30 days and then
when she starts to show up again decide if you want to keep
hiding.

You're right. If this was someone else posting, I would not
have reacted this way. It's not that she's just been annoying
on FB, it's her overall demeanor IRL and on social media.
I'll have to look into hiding her feed for a certain time. I
try to remember to check on the couple of people I've
unfollowed, but it can be too long between times. I checked
with one just the other day, and saw 23 posts that day and it
was only noon!
