When you cut open a hot pepper and go to remove the seeds and
ribs (the hottest part), do NOT scrape them out with your
thumbnail. I felt as if I had a lit match under there. (On the
other hand, a grapefruit spoon is perfect for this).
And for the love of all that's holy, don't rub your eye with
that finger!!
Yeah, been there done that WHILE I WAS DRIVING. It was really
really bad.
I know there's a logical answer like I cut the peppers for my
dish then afterward drove to the party, but I have to ask
anyway: You didn't cut peppers while you were driving, did you?
ROFL!! No, I didn't. I was visiting a friend, and he showed
me his small patch of hot peppers (the little red ones), and I
picked and ate one. Yeah, it was hot. But then I got in my car
and started driving home, and that's when I rubbed my eye and
realized my terrible, horrible, very bad idea.

to be fair, I have chopped hot peppers for my DH (I do not eat
them) without gloves. Even after washing my hands, taking a
shower and washing my hair with my hands, it still burned if I
touched my lips with my finger.

I work with a very sweet man who is approaching 70. He asked me
to help him with our copier.
To use our copier you scan your university i.d. and then either
print your items or make copies, scan, etc.
He's showing me that he's scanning his i.d. but the copier is
telling him it doesn't exist.
When I look closer at his i.d. I say "Joe, you're trying to use
your credit card". Luckily, he thought it was just as funny.

I have on more than one occasion tried swiping my work badge to
pay for things and waived it in front of doors trying to open
them. Yeah, that doesn't work. 🤷🤣

I've tried using my swipe card to open the front door of my
house, as well. Which requires a key; it isn't even one of
those that has a number pad lock.

The cashier at the grocery store kept having trouble swiping my
debit card, which was orange. Finally, I said I'd just use a
different card, and she handed back my Home Depot credit card.

I just washed my lunch dishes, then threw out my spoon and
carried the dirty paper towel I used to dry it back to my desk.

😄 Reminds me of the time I made a cup of tea, walked
over to the garbage pail, poured out my freshly-made tea, and
stood there stupidly holding my empty cup and a used tea bag.

I chopped habanero peppers in the food processor, then pulled
off the top and leaned over the bowl to check them. With my
contacts in. I thought cleaning and soaking the lenses would
take care of the problem. I stupidly put them in to test that
out. Turns out I was wrong.

There was the time I processed dried red chiles to powder them.
The inside of the processor was covered with a fine layer of red
dust. In my infinite wisdom, I chose to bend down and blow the
pepper dust off the side. I got a face full of pepper dust.
Dinner prep had to wait while I took a shower to get it off
quickly. I'm just glad I was aware enough to not rub my eyes
with my hands.

And your tea story reminds me of straining broth (or other
things) and forgetting to put a bowl underneath, so all the
lovely broth goes down the drain.
