Maybe the Grandmom wasn't physically able to manage the child to
remove from the store. Maybe the Grandmom didn't understand
enough English to complete the transaction. Or couldn't be
trusted with her own daughters charge card not to scarf up extra
items for herself.

I had said that grandma could have taken the kid out and I still
think if she was able to she should have. But this is a fair
point. There could be any number of reasons it didn't happen.

and maybe Mom had a brain fart.
A friendly suggestion from the man might have gotten better
results.

But him calling a child "it"? Not cool.
[/quote]
I highly doubt that he called her child an "it." He was
probably referring to the situation as in "Take it outside."

Since I wasn't there and only know the situation from your post,
I don't know whether that's what was meant or not...but, it sure
sounds like the man on line was being deliberately demeaning by
calling the child "it." On the other hand, if this child was
throwing a good solid temper tantrum and not just a "boo hoo
hoo" the Mom probably should have taken him or her out of the
store.

I remember when my first was a couple of months old my husband
and I took him to a nice-ish restaurant with us. Of course, he
had a 20 minute crying fit before he fell asleep. I remember
seeing people muttering and giving us dirty looks and thinking,
"HOW RUDE!!!"
Now, of course, I shudder whenever I think about that incident
and wish I could track down all those people and buy them a
nice, quiet dinner.
