I also like number 1 best. It’s the only one that looks to me
like you might choose it for any formal event. The others just
seem too specifically This Is a MOB/G Dress. The first one
would be memorable and more enjoyable for you later.
But I repeat my advice to go to actual stores and try things on.
Don’t choose from pictures on websites or from rules or
guidelines. Of course you can include bridal shops, but try
other stores, too. You will find more variety.
Von Maur has a good selection of very reasonably priced evening
wear, including plus size, and they have free shipping and free
returns, including returns of evening wear (unworn and
unaltered, with tag and receipt), too, if you don’t have a store
locally.

I like this one
HTML https://www.vonmaur.com/Product.aspx?ID=1389580&pos=58&pg=1
Nordstrom also has free shipping and returns, including formal
dresses. Their selection of plus size formal gowns is more
expensive, but includes much more interesting styles. Make sure
to look at “formal,” not just “mother of the…” dresses, which
would be included in the former category anyway.
HTML https://www.nordstrom.com/browse/women/clothing/plus-size/dresses/filter/formal~8000544_6000380?breadcrumb=Home%2FWomen%2FClothing%2FPlus-Size%20Clothing%2FDresses&flexi=8000544_6000380.<br
/>
Of course, the most special ones (I especially like the Mac
Douggal ones) cost more,* but they’re not ridiculously expensive
for such an important occasion. If you can afford it, you are
worth it! If there’s ever a time when you’re going to spend
extravagantly on a dress, your child’s wedding is it (and I am a
real cheapskate about clothes generally). And with luck you
will be able to wear it again and again as I have (although I
admit that sometimes that means I’m at the dressiest end of the
range of outfits at an event. But who cares? As someone once
said to me, “Life is too short not to be overdressed. Always
remember to think that!”)
*Saksoff5th.com has some of these same dresses for much less.
HTML https://www.saksoff5th.com/c/women/apparel/formal-evening?prefn1=refLength&prefv1=Floor-Length&srule=featured_newest&doNotReset=true.<br
/>If your daughter is okay with black, I think this one is
smashing:

I searched “fabulous plus sized gown” and got lots of hits, but
I can’t vouch for any of the sites. You try it.
Can you wear a regular women’s or petite size in some styles, or
does it have to be an “official” plus size?

I highly recommend you go try on different styles, take photos
and send to your daughter.
As I mentioned, my sister was very large chested (G to F cup)
and carries all of her weight in her stomach. She has thin hips,
no butt and skinny legs. 1) is beautiful, but I remember on her
that style would have been terrible to alter and once it was
would have accentuated how top heavy she is. Option 2 is close
to what she ended up in but the full skirt caused her to
completely hide her more flattering features. She looked nice in
it, but it was not nearly as flattering as the pantsuit she wore
for the reception.
The style of gowns I liked best on her was like this one but she
was uncomfortable in it because it emphasized her chest too much
and she thought that was not a good look for the MOG.

The same sister wears something like this to all family weddings
or other events. She always feels fabolous in it and gets lots
of compliments. She only wears 1inch heels because of foot
issues.

If pockets are truly a must, consider Eshakti (which also offers
some customization on neckline, sleeves, and length--you also
give your height and even have the option of entering more
measurements for a better fit--that's only an additional $10.)
Colors are generally what is pictured, though if you keep going
you may find the same style in other colors, and can preview the
changes that you're considering (going from a low V to a high V,
for example, or switching to a scoop--some styles have more
options than others).
For example:

HTML https://www.eshakti.com/shop/Dresses/Faux-button-waist-ombre-star-print-crepe-maxi-dress-CL0082916
Both of these have a low-V as is, but look just as good with
other neckline styles/lengths. Sizes go from 0 to 6X. When my
daughter was in high school, she needed a black concert dress,
and we got hers there (she has a strong preference for pockets
in any outfit she wears).

So do I. I really like the pants outfit that Hmmm posted, too,
and I bet you'd get a lot of use out of it for other occasions
for which a gown would be too formal, but I think better for a
guest than for the MOB if it's black tie (i.e., if many of the
guests are wearing gowns). My mom (age 91 but always well
dressed!) now always wears pants -- I'm not sure she even owns
any skirts or dresses anymore. But for her grandchildren's
formal evening weddings, she wore long gowns. As a regular
guest, though, she would go with a pants outfit like that one.
*** I noticed that I goofed on the link to a dress in my earlier
post. I fixed it. The correct link is

/> You would feel like a queen in that dress.

I think that you can use the pictures your daughter sent you as
a guideline to what she has in mind. Now, go shopping IRL and
show the salesperson those pictures and say, "Here's the kind of
thing I'm looking for. What can you show me in that kind of
style that will look good on me?"
Then yeah - try it on!
You have plenty of time. Plus we're in the season that the
wedding will take place, so dresses that are in stores now will
be appropriate for next June.
When my son got married, I ordered several dresses on line, all
of which had easy returns. Then I invited two close friends over
and modeled each dress. They both agreed on the one that was the
best for me, and that's what I wore. That was a great way to do
it as they helped me to see what I could not be objective about.

Sorry if you already posted this, but do you know the time of
day and the level of formality your daughter wants? Like, will
the invitations say “Black tie,” or what? What’s her vision?

I'm not quite sure on the timeline, I don't think it's been set
yet. But close to 5pm ceremony, 1 hour cocktails/hors d'oeuvres
so dinner will be 6:30-7pm.
I know they are not asking for black tie, but are leaning to the
formal.
Groom will not be wearing a tux, he will wear the formal
embroidered shirt style from his home country (which I think is
absolutely lovely!)
Thank you all for your suggestions, please keep them coming!

Hmmm -- I LOVE this! That is exactly my style with a closer-cut
(maybe what they call skinny?) pants. I do have nice legs. ;)
Along with, maybe, a bit lower cut on the inner lining shirt (I
have nice boobs, too. What's wrong with showing off a bit of
cleavage? ;D)

#1 is stunning. You may spend more time shopping for a
strapless bra that doesnt show front or back than the actual
dress if you like that one.
[/quote]
Thanks, Rho -- Being large chested I've never found a strapless
bra that I was comfortable with. So no strapless or off the
shoulder gowns for me.
I need to wrap my head around wearing a formal floor length
gown, or any dress style for that matter. I never attend formal
gatherings so a gown would be too formal for me to wear again.
A very dressy pants suit (like the link above) could be worn to
fancy dinners and such.

what I'm looking for might ease the pain.
