My DD#1 is engaged!

BFsam (finally ;)) proposed to DD#1. They sent me a video and it
was awesome.
They took a hard hike up a mountain (maybe 2+ miles) and DD#1
was saying "I don't think I'm going to make it!" BFsam kept
encouraging her "You can make it! In the end, the view will be
worth it. You're going to love it."
When they got to the summit BFsam set up his camera and started
taping. Oh, the background view was stunning! He walked her to
cliff-side, they turned around to face the camera, he said "Wave
hi to everybody" then he got down on his knee. The words he said
were barely audible, but I caught the romantic "You are the love
of my life" etc.
DD#1 did break out in happy tears, and she accepted.
Now comes the wedding planning. They live in far-away state so I
was happy to hear that they wanted to have the wedding here, in
my state, because so many family and friends live here.
They are looking into venues for next year, maybe March,
depending on what's available and how COVID is doing.
I'm so happy for them! Pickled Tink! ;D

Happy for your daughter and her fiance. Enjoy the wedding
planning.
My DD and I just went through a very condensed cycle of wedding
planning. We agreed up front that she would not get upset with
me for making suggestions and I wouldn't get upset when she
ignored my suggestions. Got us through a couple of rough spots
since DH and I were paying for the wedding but she wanted to
have complete control.

The advantage of "finally" is that you know they had time to
think about what being together will be like. (I know people who
didn't take that long and are still happy together, but I think
the odds are better this way.)
