       spring equinox

I like to celebrate the spring equinox by putting out a candle
with pastel ribbons tied around it, assorted dyed eggs, and
(plastic) fern leaves, on a square moss-green platter. I'm not
Wiccan or Pagan, I just like to do it because I like the hope
and new beginning that spring represents. Does anyone else have
a spring equinox celebration or observance that they like to do
       and feel comfortable sharing?

That sounds lovely. Nothing specifically for the equinox, but I
do like to change the wreath on my front door this time of year
to a spring-themed one. May get out some easter decorations
soon, too. I did buy a new table cloth recently that I want to
       put out this weekend.

Peony - I love your description of your celebration of Spring!
My family celebrates the Winter and Summer Solstice with
parties, but for Spring Equinox we no longer do anything
special. When our son was little we'd plant bulbs for the Fall
Equinox as a sign of our hope for the coming Spring. He's
nearly 45 now, so my memory is a bit rusty, but I think that for
Spring Equinox we used to have our first outdoor picnic of the
       year.

Our Wedding anniversary (38th this year) is March 19th. Mr.
Pons chose the date because it was mid-way between St. Pat’s Day
and the vernal equinox so he wouldn’t forget it. As a result,
it’s always been a fun time —- even if the fun comes with a near
surfeit of green carnations and corned beef.

When I was young, I would always tell people that the first day
of Spring was my favorite holiday. They told me that it wasn't
a holiday. I didn't care. It was my favorite holiday. Every
year my parents even let me take the day off school to
       celebrate.
As an adult, I always got out every vase, pitcher, and anything
that could hold flowers and cleaned them up. Then I'd go out
and buy lots of flowers. I filled my apartment with flowers
every year. They were everywhere. I also used my vacation and
took that week off. I didn't do anything special---I just
enjoyed the time of the year. I'd decorate the house, put away
winter clothes, and take walks in the parks.
I stopped buying flowers about 10 years ago because we had too
many cats. They would eat the flowers and knock over the vases.
I still love my holiday, but I don't celebrate like I used to.
I don't have any vacation time this year, but I might do
something since it's on a Saturday. Maybe this thread will give
       me some inspiration.

I like the imagery of the bulbs sleeping and hoping through the
cold and snow and then waking up when it's springtime.

I am going to celebrate by baking something.... and also spring
cleaning the house slowly leading up to the holiday.

Apart from my Easter traditions, I do celebrate in two ways:
First, each year I try my hand at pysanky. I've never done it
enough to get a steady hand and clean lines, but still fun to
       try.
Second, I take time to plan some travel. It's like I see the
snow melting and have a day or two without a jacket and start
thinking of the places we can get out and see again. I won't
have as much travel as normal this year, but it will feel like
quite a celebration to get out and see something new again!
