       New Year’s Niceness.

       Some years ago, New Year’s Eve afternoon was cold, sleety and
       grey.  A planned trip to fireworks in a local park was out of
       the question.
       We have been blessed in having wonderful upstairs neighbors.
       That year, he was a wonderful pianist.  When he played, we’d
       often turn off the radio or TV to listen.  About three o’clock
       that ghastly afternoon he launched into a magnificent stride
       piano version of ‘Auld Lang Syne’ followed by a few Scott Joplin
       rags.
       He certainly perked up the day.
