I'm arriving late to this topic, but I just want to add that I
know of an instance where an angry manager berated a cashier -
and the store permanently lost a customer.
My wife refuses to ever shop again at the small-town high-priced
grocery store that is closest to our home. One of the first
times my wife went shopping there after we moved here years ago,
the cashier made a mistake with scanning my wife's groceries.
The cashier herself noticed her error.
That small-town chain doesn't trust their own employees to
correct register errors, so the cashier called a manager over to
fix the mistake. My wife said the manager was quite nasty in
words and in tone to the cashier - right in front of my wife and
other customers.
My wife vowed to never shop there again - and she has not!
[I'll add here that I do shop there, but only if I'm in a hurry
and only want a few items. I'm sure I know which manager upset
my wife because I, too, saw him berate other cashiers after
that. I only saw him for another year or so, though. I don't
know if they let him go or if they transferred him. My wife
still doesn't want to shop there. Their prices are high and
their selection limited, so I can see that point of view.]
