Flowers received with no name attached - how to thank giver? #12
        - Mystery SOLVED!
By: GardenGal Date: November 11, 2020, 4:15 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Here's a first for me. There was a beautiful floral arrangement
left outside our front gate yesterday, which I didn't even see
until today. Luckily, it was in the shade and the arrangement
is perfect despite being out overnight.
The problem? The card attached said, "You guys are great.
Thanks so much!" That's it. No name given, and the card had
only an order number printed on it, not the name of the florist
or any contact info. The lack of the florist name is especially
       annoying and strange.
I can think of perhaps 4-5 people who might have sent it, but
don't know how to figure out who it really was. I posted about
this on Facebook, but some of the folks I think might have sent
it are not on Facebook. It seems weird to me to contact
possible senders and say, "Hey, did you send me some flowers?"
I don't want them to think that I expected flowers (which I
absolutely didn't), and I don't want them to feel that I might
be asking for flowers (which would be ridiculous).
Any ideas you can give me to help me locate the source?
Facebook is the only social media I ever use, so I'm not about
to start with another one just to figure this out. I already
tried putting the order number into Google, but nothing comes
       up. Thanks!

Perhaps it wasn't signed because the giver didn't want to be
identified. Post it on Facebook, with a 'Thank you to whoever
left us this lovely arrangement!' with a photo. And call it
       good.

Did that before I asked my question. :)

Were your names listed on the envelope? In other words is
there even the remotest possibility that the person(s) who left
it actually intended it for someone else and just mistakenly
left it in front of the wrong gate?

       Then you're good!
I've done random acts of kindness and the person jumped through
hoops to figure out it was me. I felt bad that they did a lot of
detective work to put it together.
By not self-identitying, the person is saying they don't want or
need a thank you. Enjoy your bouquet!

I might bring it up in normal conversation with your suspects.
"What's new in my life? You know, I had the sweetest surprise
the other. Someone sent a bouquet of flowers and I am trying to
figure out who the mystery giver might be." If it wasn't me, I
would not think that this was plea for more flowers. I would
just celebrate the surprise with you. If it was me, then you
either provided that my name was left off the card (which I can
update you) or if I wanted it to be a mystery, you gave me the
opportunity to confess or at least know that you appreciated
       them.

There was no envelope, just a printed form with our address and
the text in my original post. :(

It sounds like they instructed the flower shop to exclude their
business card. They're going out of their way so you can't track
       them down.
Enjoy the flowers and think about all the possible suspects.
It'll make you feel good to think how many there are.

Or maybe the florist shop made a mistake. Or the attachment
       fell off enroute.

That feels less likely than someone wanting to do an anonymous
good deed. Two to three things have to have happened. The floral
shop left off the names, printed the card on something that
lacked their branding, and had any other identifying information
fall off. GardenGal noted that the lack of a business name from
the florist was particularly annoying. Companies work so hard at
their branding and imaging; they probably had to dig around for
       a blank card.
GardenGal, you could call various florists and run the order
number past them and see if the lack of a name was intentional.
