What would you do? UPDATE #27
By: jpcher Date: November 4, 2020, 3:37 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Early this morning I heard the neighbor's* landscaper out mowing
their lawn (usual for a Tuesday). Then I heard a louder noise
and saw a whole bunch of leaves flying over, and through the
cracks of, my fence. He was obviously using a leaf blower to get
rid of the leaves in their yard and instead of blowing the
leaves back into their yard he was getting rid of them by
blowing them into my yard. It was akin to snowing leaves.
Since I work from home and it was early a.m. I was still in my
robe. I went outside and tried to talk to him (over the 6-foot
fence) but he didn't hear me. I ran inside, got dressed, went
around the corner to see him pulling away. I thought to say "Are
you going to clean up my yard as well?"
I know this might be a 'third world problem' but it bothers me.
I have a landscaping service and they haven't done the fall
clean-up yet. Those extra leaves are going to give them extra
work. They have been pretty diligent about picking up the leaves
weekly. I've watched them blow leaves away from the fence into
the middle of my yard and then mow over everything (bagged and
       done).
So, my etiquette question to you is would you talk to the
neighbors (I've never met them) about the rudeness of their
landscaper or just let it go and let my landscaper take care of
       the extra work?
*Neighbor lives on the corner lot, their front/back door and
driveway entrance is on a different street than mine.

I'd ask the neighbor for the name of their landscaper then call
       them yourself.

I would introduce myself to the neighbors, explain what
happened, and ask for the name of their landscaper. They 100%
know to watch where the leaves are going!

Evil me says to tell your landscapers to blow the leaves back
       into your neighbor’s yard.
Really, though, let your neighbors know to tell their gardeners
to please NOT blow the leaves into your yard. There should be
better results if it comes from their client, than a random
lady. If catch them at it again, that is the time to confront
       them yourself.
Edited to add: My dad was a landscape gardener, and he would
get random people accosting him with their complaints quite
frequently. He would only listen to the homeowner, though,
because they were the ones paying him.

Get the name of the landscape company and report them. Do not
count on the neighbor doing it even if you specifically request
them to. Make it clear you WILL be calling (even if they insist
       they will).
If you already know the name of the company, don't wait.
Decide now if you are willing to let neighbor's landscaping in
your yard to get rid of the leaves. That way, if they offer,
you can have an answer at the ready. You either need it done by
X date, you are willing to allow them to do it next Tuesday or
you will not allow such irresponsible workers in your yard, you
are simply calling to let them know they did it and it better
       not happen again.

Hmmm yesteday was the day. One neighbor had yardwork done and
the truck drove up and down the street through piles of leaves
at curbs waiting to be removed by city. The leaves were
scattered into the street. Four of us went out to move all the
leaves back where they came from. Two of us joked about putting
the leaves into the offenders truck. Today if he had returned I
       would have done so.
I think let it go THIS TIME. If it happens again the homeowner
and also landscaper need to be informed and confronted.

We pay someone to mow our lawns and take away the clippings. I
would want to know if they're doing something like that and
would keep an eye out in case it happened again.

It was either very cheeky, or very careless of your neighbour's
landscaper to blow the leaves over/through your fence like that.
As Mrs Rat said above, landscapers are often paid to bag and
remove leaves and other garden clippings. If this dude is being
paid for that (but not actually bagging up the leaves) then he
       is basically fleecing your neighbours.
Given the above, I'd definitely approach your neighbours nicely,
and explain the situation, and ask if they'd mind telling their
landscaper to take more care next time.

Aw, heck no, evil me would have run out in my robe and
       confronted the leaf blower.

So would I. I do think you should let them know (making totally
clear that you're not griping at them, of course) what the man
they hired to deal with their leaves did with them. They might
well want to complain, or hire someone else next time.
