You could always try a spray bottle. Use it with a firm "No!"
I'm only half joking. ;)
I'm having a similar problem. DH is driving me crazy about the
election.

I love it! :D

How I handle my (political) outrage:
During the 2012 debates, I was laying on the couch with the flu
or cold or something. I got irritated at something one of the
candidates said, and threw my Kleenex at the TV. ExH came home
to find several balls of tissue all around the screen, then told
me not to throw snot rags at the TV. So, for the 2016 debates,
I bought the large sized pompon balls and started tossing those.
Now I keep a bowl of pompoms at the ready.
Hand your husband a bag of pompoms and tell him to use those
instead of his words.

I just finished reading the book, "Code Girls," which is about
the women who worked in Intelligence during WWII, cracking enemy
codes. One of the women, in her later years, grew fond of
throwing balled up clean socks at the TV whenever politicians
were on speaking. At the end of the day, she would gather up her
socks in preparation for the next day. The author, Liz Mundy, in
the notes revealed that when she finished interviewing the woman
for the book, the woman formally presented her with a shopping
bag full of clean balled up socks so she could throw at the
politicians on TV as well.
Obviously, great minds think alike.
