[quote]It's not making waves. I may not say anything at a

       Yes!
I think especially when food is involved, people forget that
       this is a business relationship. Nobody is giving you a gift;
you are a customer, and the business should fulfill the contract
by giving you the food you ordered.
You don't have to specify food safety issues; the state and
city laws dictate that this is an unspoken part of EVERY
       contract to sell food.

Before posting reviews on social media, I suggest Rita reach out
to the manager and explain what happened. Tell him or her, that
after thinking about the situation, here is how she thinks this
situation should've been handled and why: (new sandwich
prepared, unsanitary and unappealing to microwave the entire
plate, etc.). See if they respond. It may be a matter of more
       training needed for the staff.

Since Rita is hesitant to act, I might suggest to her that this
is not a situation for complaining, but for informing.
The owner and manager of the restaurant can't possibly observe
everything; they may not know how the situation was handled.
if they do know, they may not realize that it's a problematic
course of action, and they might benefit from the feedback from
her, that now her lunch was much less enjoyable and she wishes
it had been handled properly--that the chicken had been cooked
through in the first place, that the sandwich had been remade
instead of being warmed in the microwave (especially with the
       bread and lettuce alongside, apparently).

Rita should have had her entire meal cooked over, and it should
have been comped. As previous posters said, this goes beyond a
cosumer's preference, it could have hade Rita quite ill,
       especially the second time!

I don't think it was, as LoP says that 'the bun and lettuce were
now soggy. And her chips were now cold.' From which I presume
that only the meat was microwaved, and the bun and lettuce just
got soggy from sitting around with grease, juices and sauces on
       them, next to rapidly-cooling chips.

       ah, right--the chips were cold.
       So I am probably wrong.
       Still not good.

I think a fuss was warranted. OK- they "literally" fixed it at
the bare minimum but it was lazy, cheap and disrespectful of
their paying customers. It smacks of 'who cares' and I would be
telling them so. Not in a nasty, dramatic fashion but I would
       call them out.

Reheating the food was penny wise and pound foolish. The
lackluster food bought a lot of bad word of mouth advertisement.

Thanks all. I agree that the restaurant really dropped the ball.
Rita is very much the quintessential Aussie chick - eg 'Nah,
don't want to be a bloody whinger, it's just food at the end of
the day, there are bigger problems in the world, she'll be
right, mate, etc', type person. Incidentally, my partner and
Pete both ordered pints of one of the beers, and claimed it
       tasted stale.
Unfortunately, we primarily go to this venue for the weekly quiz
nights. It's the only place in our area which has re-started
quiz nights (and we are all trivia buffs!), so I guess we're a
       captive market!

I don't know what rules the pub has for hosting quiz night, but
two experiences like this would have me eating beforehand and
ordering soft drinks only while I was there.
