I created a thread and disappeared! :D Thanks everyone! It's
interesting to hear everyone's thoughts and views. I think my
take away is to give others the space to use their Facebook in
the way that works for them. No rudeness at all. I am going to
try to not read too much in lack of acknowledgement, but I will
continue letting others know that I appreciate their comments.
To me, that feels right.
In a somewhat corresponding matter, at the beginning of the
stay-at-home order, I started doing a daily post showcasing a
collection that I have. (Someone had suggested that I do this
some time ago and this seemed like a good time.) Every day, I
have three people who reply... well daily. Basically, they say
the same things each. and. every. day. I'm glad that they are
enjoying my collection, but I'm bored by their comments. So, I
am also taking this thread as permission to not respond... I
would have felt rude otherwise.
Thanks everyone!

I am on Facebook for hours every day. I admin several groups and
pages as well as my own timeline. I don't know if I've
overwhelmed the FB system or what, but I very often don't get
notifications for comments on posts that I started or followed,
especially once there have been several comments made. So I know
I miss responding to some comments here or there because I don't
even realize they've been made.
[/quote]
I also don't get a lot of notifications, even if I've explicitly
set that I want notifications. I'm sure I've missed a lot of
stuff.

For the record, I have missed things, too. Sometimes I get a
notification, see that it's not something urgent, go back to the
task that I was doing, but later forget to reply. And just the
other day I never received a notification despite the fact that
several people replied to my post. It happens and is an
understandable explanation. I suspect that this is not the case
for the people I was originally talking about, because it's an
on-going behavior, but certainly does happen.

I find it a bit annoying when Facebook notifies me that there's
a new comment, and it's just the poster who is replying to every
comment with "Thanks" or the equivalent. It's clutter. I think
it's sufficient to "like" the comment.

And a hijack to say... Hi Lantana!!! Congratulations on your
