Dear Dog:
I understand that it's my job to let you outside whenever you
indicate you want to go and that's OK, but when you claim you
want out five times in one hour I know you're just fooling
around. You really want to catch that squirrel who is sitting in
the neighbor's elm tree chattering at you and making fun of you,
don't you? I'm sorry to tell you this, but that squirrel is
faster than you, and you will never catch it, ever.
Signed,
Your Loving Mom

Dear Dog,
If you would finish the leftover asparagus right away, I
wouldn't have to scold you to finish your veggies.
Love, Me

Dear Socks,
Your sister is in season. I know it's frustrating that she's in
the other room and you can't get to her, but:
[li]She's your sister, literally your sister, so no, you can't
'have' her, and[/li]
[li]for the love that's all holy, can't you give the singing a
rest?[/li]
The frazzled, furless one

Dear Dog,
We named you for an Egyptian Goddess. It's not our fault your
name is now the name of a well-known terrorist organization.
Love, Me

Dear Willow,
We nicknamed you 'Hurricane Willow' for a reason. Get the hint,
already!

Dear dogs, it’s 110F out. Why are you sunbathing? Come inside,
where there’s AC!
(Note that it’s just the boys. Ariel has the good sense to stay
in.)

Dear Fergus,
We don't have to stop and say hi to ALL the cats on our walk.

Both of you please stop freaking out. You are going to the puppy
hotel together while mommy, daddy and Boo go to the people hotel
- a long drive away. You guys don’t like long drives. You’ll be
together and have lots of fun. Mommy packed your blankets and
toys.

Dear Dog:
The thunder (fireworks, any other loud noise) is not the world
barking at you. You do not need to bark back.
Love,
Mommy
