I read that men are refusing to wear floral patterns, etc.
So some solid-color ones might be a good contribution if someone
       had that kind of fabric.
       [/quote]
Yeah, that's why I picked the baseball fabric! and the
lighthouses, eagles, and happy faces! While I do have solids, I
was trying to use up smaller chunks of fabric. My friend however
had a ton of darker masculine looking fabrics that weren't
solids, that she made up, so she did about 25 of those so far,
along with donating about 50 yards of fabric. (She had bolts
that she got from the fabric store she worked at when it went
under.) Oh, now I have to make the ties for the ones I am
       keeping.

You've really done a wonderful job, Pattycake.
Hope you enjoy your non-mask sewing and other things.

I don't sew and I've read that the crocheted masks with hand
sewn liners are too hot for wearing for very long so I can't
help making masks. I could make the little comfort straps but
those require buttons, that I don't have.
And then I saw a Facebook post for little hearts that are either
knitted or crocheted. You make them in pairs. One is for the
person in ICU in hospital and the other is for a family member
than can't be there. I was thinking they'd be even more
beneficial for LTC folks. I've knitted the first heart that I
have to stuff with polyfill and sew up. I'm going to try the
crocheted one, which while not as three-dimensional, will be
easier since it doesn't take fill and doesn't have to be sewn!
I posted the idea on our town Facebook page and there is enough
interest in them that I'm going to start making them in my
evenings. I'll work on other stuff during the day but if I sit
       down? Start knitting or crocheting!

I have finished making masks for the moment. I did the cone
shape, which can be worn alone or over the N95 masks. I also
used elastic instead of ties and did it so it goes all the way
around the head; therefore, no ouch to the ears!
I did some for my DGS, who being young, might not be able to do
the elastic, as you have to situate it. So, for him, I used shoe
laces, which DD can tie for him. He has a doctor play set, so he
can use it when he gives his parents "shots." (He is very fond
       of giving shots!)
Now I plan to do some with pleats. I just wish I could find out
what size to make them for children, as I want to do some for
       the children on our block.

Yup, I am in Canada, but thanks for your kind words, TootsNYC. I
know there are lots of folks in the U.S. that are making them
too - I saw an article on a 90-something year old lady making
       some at her own bedside!
STiG, those hearts are a great idea for the general ICU! We have
made them for the NICU's, one for baby, one for mom, which they
wear and swap so baby has mama's scent with baby all the time.
They apparently help a great deal. I am sure that for adults,
the emotional connection will mean a lot.
Gmatoy, I wish I had a kid's pattern too, so if you see one, let
me know. The group I am doing them for is not doing them for
children as the need for the adults they are providing for right
       now is so great.
If you are making for adults, one version I saw that I really
like the ties on has only ONE tie, about 60 inches long, that
loops up from the bottom of one side then down from the top of
the other. That way you don't have to tie the top, as it sits
on your head and you just tie the bottom ties as normal. Does
that make sense? I can take a picture of mine if you need to
see! I have long hair, and I really hate ties around my head, so
to eliminate one set of ties was perfect for me.
