Re: Baby shower or not?

Check with her if she wants a baby shower. I know that in the
US Jewish people often don't want to buy any baby stuff so as to
not "jinx" anything. (I have no idea if you /she is Jewish but
since she lives in Israel...)
Can you do a virtual baby shower? She can be there in person,
but the items can be shipped to her.
Have her do an amazon wishlist and then they can ship the items
directly to her.
Evidently they have free shipping to Israel

Yep, we're Jewish. But we're not superstitious. I think my
son-in-law's family may be, and in general the custom, if not
the belief, has pervaded Israeli society enough that they don't
do baby showers or buy much in advance. They just bought a
bassinet, though, so I know they aren't completely opposed to
it.
Anyway, I did speak to her about it, and we decided there just
isn't a good way to do it when she is here. Almost all of the
people we would invite are going to be invited to the event for
my husband, and several of them are even working hard on that
event.
I imagine that anyone who would give her a baby gift will give
her one anyway, shower or no shower.
bopper, Amazon's new shipping to Israel policy has been a big
game changer! There's even a facebook page about it, people are
so excited. People try to hit the narrow range between $49 (the
minimum for free shipping) and $75 (the maximum before VAT kicks
in). I'm really glad about it, as we will be moving there next
winter, and our daughter and her in-laws will no longer have to
send our son-in-law with shopping lists on his business trips to
the US.
