I've been having good luck with Walgreen's Christmas clearance.
I bought a really cute pug shaped tea diffuser for about $1.50.
I found the same ones online for $10. I am already imagining a
themed basket starring this find. Today's find was a Little
People's toy marked down to $1.30. My office participates in a
toy drive every Christmas. I'm going to start filling a box
during this year. That way I'll be able to give more, but I'll
       spend less.

I'm on the hunt for small-ish artificial Christmas trees. For
probably 10 years now, we have had a pre-lit, 7.5 foot Christmas
tree. This thing breaks off into four pieces and is stored in
two huge Rubbermaid containers, which are a huge pain in the
tush to get up the basement stairs. This past year my mother
suggested that next year, instead of hauling up the big tree, we
shop around for a 5 foot tree and a couple of 4 foot trees,
place them in front of our big picture window, and decorate
them. Each tree will have sort of a theme; we have 30 years'
worth of ornaments from the White House Historical Association,
so those will go on the biggest tree. We have quite a few
ornaments made from goose and chicken eggs, and we have a lot of
ornaments from over the years and newer ones that are favorites,
so those will go on the other trees. I probably should have
started looking sooner, but that's how I'm planning ahead for
       Christmas 2020.

My husband wants to do this as well. Because we live in an
apartment, we don't have that much space to store one.
I've been a fan for the last few years of using the coat-hanger
       and garland Christmas tree (
  HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mMDQ9vqSPQ)
       that my daughter
learned to make at age 7 or 8. A couple of years ago we did it,
       and it was just lovely.
Right now my son sleeps on the sofa bed and makes the living
room his home when he's home from school (as his sister did
before him), because they've shared a bedroom in the past.
So we haven't had room even for a small tree.
I always sword I'd never go artificial, but I'm sort of tired of
the needles, and we don't have time anymore to make a big deal
out of going as a family to get the tree.
But I'm beginning to think there's a trade-off. With real,
you sweep up needles; with artificial, you store it.

I was in the garden section of WalMart the other day looking for
ice melt. Found a small section of Christmas items for 90% off.
I bought about 15-16 small artificial poinsettias for .09 each.
I'll use them at Christmas 2020 to make grave decorations.

       Ooh, envious! ;D
[Not of you needing to make grave decorations, but for the
       fantastic value poinsettias.]

Today is the day that I'm turning in my things for the toy
drive. I ended up with a ton of good deals over the year. I've
never been able to donate this much to the drive. It feels good
to do something positive at the end of this year.

My, how different our 2020 Christmas (or Hanukkah) plans are
from what thought they would be a year ago.
Our family never was one to get everybody together at Christmas.
That was our Thanksgiving tradition. Christmas was for your
own household with phone calls to offer greetings.
No one lives close now so all gifts are sent and most are
consumables such as cheesecake or nuts for the vegan household.
I have my cards and my stamps. Mr. Pons will probably print off
the mailing labels this afternoon. My Christmas village went up
yesterday. The centerpiece is a tiny, candle-powered carousel
from Norway. The Advent calendar we bought in Germany last year
is working well and the wreath for the door will probably also
       go up later today.
