What do they mean by saying those candles are not for ears?
That's got to mean something other than what I think it might
mean.

Some people candle their ears to get wax to come out.

Jackpot! That's exactly what I needed, and I have ordered them
already. (I should have figured that the Germans wouldn't give
up using real candles for the Weihnachtsbaum as feebly as the
British have.) Thank you!
I'm interested in what kind of holders you use for
thise.
They look a bit like this, except that mine have a clip to hold
the candle, instead of a socket.

The bottom part clips on to a branch, and there's a ball joint
between the clip and the candleholder part; so that even if the
clip isn't vertical, you can twist the candleholder so that the
candle is vertical.

I never found my Christmas curtains or table runner, so I will
be looking for clearance Christmas fabric to make new ones for
next year. This will also guarantee that I find the original
ones before next December. I also want to find more decor for
the house. I just never got into the spirit this year, I think I
need more decorations.

Right after Thanksgiving this year, a pipe in the bathroom
burst. The back half of the house was soaked. I hadn't gotten
much done for Christmas, and I was overwhelmed with the time,
mess, and expense of the repairs and replacement. Luckily our
insurance came through, and we were able to get back to normal
by Christmas eve. DD's bathroom and bedroom were in the part of
the house that was ruined. Her Christmas present was letting her
pick out her paint & flooring for the two rooms. I got her some
new curtains and a bathroom curtain/rug combo to round it out. I
was really at a loss for everyone else. I scrambled for everyone
else, and it was so stressful. It was hard to get into the
spirit.
I already have put together a list for 2020. I'll do a little
bit every month. It will be my own Christmas club. I don't want
to take the chance of something ruining Christmas again.

Kimpossible, your mention of the Christmas Club rang some vague
memories in me and I googled it. I had actually forgotten all
about it for decades but reading about it brought it all back.
What a great idea you have of making your own by doing your
holiday shopping ahead of time. I kind of do it as well, as I
come across things, but I like the sense of bringing a formality
to it as it were. I'm going to do the same thing..

I do this with my sewing projects for Christmas. I start early
and just keep plugging along. I got side tracked this year with
a surgery and now I'm having another one soon. But before I go
in, I will cut out and serge lounging pants for everyone! I have
3 weeks and I'm determined!

If you are starting so early in the year I insist on sharing
some of the memorable gifts I sent to a friend in the past.
Different years I sent themed socks, paper napkins, or stickers.
I shopped the entire year prior to find everything
Jan--snowmen, winter
Feb ---valentines, Mardi Gras, or Academy Awards
March--St Patricks Day
April--Easter
May---spring flowers
June---graduation
July---- Independence Day, baseball
August---beachy or travel
Sept--back to school
October--Halloween, Fall
November--Thanksgiving, football
December--Christmas
Can you tell we are American? ;~)

Pruning my Christmas card and letter to list so we only send to
those who say they enjoy our letter or who reciprocate. Bah,
humbug.
