       Beach Sand Question

       I bought beach sand from Dollar Tree but it has a chemical odor.
       What is that about and can it be eliminated safely?  The sand
       is natural-looking, no dye, but I have pebbles that are also
       dyed and they smell the same.

       wash a small amount in diluted vinegar, and spread it out to
       dry?
