I think you've gotten some very good advice here. I think you
should ask the daughter to take her Mother to see the vehicle.
I don't know where you live, but this lady has no business
driving anyway.

And that car has no business on the road either.

While I don't think you should pay the deductible since it was a
maintenance issue and not a bad driving issue, it does sound
like you are blaming them:

I assume that you knew what the car was like, at least visually,
when you accepted the offer. Hadn't you seen the car before? And
if you hadn't you certainly knew what it was like when you put
down trash bags on the pee covered seat. You could have declined
then too.
Just be careful not to blame them in any conversation with them.
Just point out that the problem wasn't your driving, just with
the age of the car.

I don't think you owe for the mechanical repairs to the car, but
I could see where you have some liability for the vandalism. Why
did you not call the daughter and ask her to send a tow truck
and you wait till it arrive? I would never just abandon a
borrowed car (or even my own car) in a parking lot of a
convenience store. If the brakes are out, you know that a tow
truck will be needed. Yes, it might require me to wait around an
hour but I think would be more appropriate unless the owner gave
me permission to just leave it.

Considering what happened to the vehicle, I'd say that is
likely this isn't exactly a safe neighborhood. And if that's the
case, as a woman who is alone, I sure as heck wouldn't be
sticking around waiting for a tow truck. I would have informed
the owner where the car was, what happened, and to have a tow
truck dispatched to come get it asap to be taken to the
mechanic.

She easily could have stayed inside the 24 hour store or in the
car with the doors locked.

To respond to some of your questions...
I didn't know how old the car was but I knew it had been
serviced within the last 6 weeks.
My AAA account didn't allow for any more tows for free and I
didn't have any money to pay.
I was kind of shocked at what had happened and wanted to in a
familiar place -given where it happened I honestly could have
been killed or killed someone else, but I did text the daughter
about the car and its where abouts within 30 minutes while on
the uber ride home. I didn't think it was a bad area. It was in
a downtown area of a well off suburb within a 24 hour CVS
parking lot. There were tons of upscale shops nearby and plenty
of traffic. The daughter waited 3 days to go and pick up the car
so I would have been waiting a long time.
Now my back is screwed up and it never has been before and the
daughter just called to yell at me to go get her mother some
food so that was fun. No I didn't tell her about my back at the
time.
I knew at the time I moved in that both mother and daughter had
some mental issues but I had no choice financially. The daughter
works in healthcare and has an anxiety disorder and can get very
paranoid. She has tried to suck me into hour long conversations
about issues with her mother, basically trying to turn me into
her therapist. Her daughter is definitely stressed beyond reason
due to this situation with her mother.
I am looking for better paying jobs then the one I have
substitute teaching and my part time one working with an elderly
man on the side and if I find one that will allow me to move out
I will do so.

So, you thought the car would be okay since it had just been
serviced within 6 weeks. I think they thought the same thing.
Yet you blame them by saying "they really shouldn't have offered
to let me use such a dangerous car."
And now you're claiming back problems due to the breakdown?!?!
I understand the whole situation is difficult, but it won't help
to play the victim.

Do you mean that shifting it into park is how you got the car to
stop after the brakes failed?
I think you had to stop it somehow, and that part isn't your
fault.
Maybe you could offer to help with the deductible. And I do
think you should offer to do anything you can to help with the
logistics of getting the car fixed, though not to the detriment
of your actual job.
But I don't think the money thing is your responsibility.

Well, if you'd been there, the daughter would probably have come
right away, but of course you couldn't stay. And if you leave a
car sitting around for 3 days in a parking lot, especially
overnight when it's the only one there, it's more of a target. I
don't think that's on you particularly.
Though I do think you could have exercised much more proactivity
in terms of getting the car home. A tow would be much cheaper
than a deductible! Of course, the daughter could have called a
tow company as well.
Maybe if you're thinking of tactics, offer to split the
deductible with her.

I would be horrified if I loaned someone my car and the breaks
went out.
I would not expect them to pay a dime, and I would indeed
consider them “the victim”.
Doubly so if they hurt their back in the process. Maintenance of
my vehicle is solely my responsibility.
