Is this a classroom setting or one-on-one? Do you celebrate just
birthdays or include holidays too? I'm sure many children don't
celebrate different type of things. Would it be appropriate to
put together some type of form so parents can opt out of things
right from the start?

nothing wrong, just didn't have the information about the
child's beliefs and once you did, you complied with them. Just
as a heads-up, you can get a lot of your questions about our
beliefs answered on our official website, jw.org. Hope it's ok
to put this here--if not, I apologize and will delete.

Thank you! I really am trying to make the experience comfortable
for everyone. And I don't know if it's allowed, but the
information is very much appreciated.

It is a classroom setting. We don't celebrate religious
holidays, but others are recognized. So, we do not do any
Christmas activities, but Valentine's Day is recognized (and
from what I've been learning the Jehovah Witness do not partake
in it.) The good news is that any "celebrating" is rather minor,
so I think I can temper things to ensure that everyone feels
comfortable.

DaDancingPsych -- Your experience with the JW little girl and
your openness and honesty with additional questions tells me
that this job fits you.
Well done.

Thank you (said through tears.) I do what I do because I want to
make these kids better people... so I think that they have to
watch me struggle to hopefully learn. I am really lucky that I
have great kids, though!

In my child's class there are a couple of JW kids. For
Valentine's day, the teacher asked that the children make
friendship cards, rather than Valentine's day cards. Rather than
filling in their names on pre-fab cards, the kids actually took
time to write messages of friendship and kindness to each other.
It was really sweet, and let everyone participate.
