These are for Ronald McDonald House too - they are having a
fundraising curling bonspiel at the end of the month, and wanted
some of the mitten decorations that some of the ladies had made
to put in their centrepieces. So a few of the quilters at my one
quilt group made some, and one of the ladies' friend made the
two little sweaters - so cute! It was sure hard to send them
       off.

Oh, how cute! Made me want to touch the screen to feel them! I
know that just smudges the screen, so I didn't touch. . . I just
       wanted to!

       Oh, those are too cute!!
Those sweaters!! They were absolutely perfect, and then someone
added tartan applique. And snowflakes. And somehow perfect
       became even-more-perfect!
       Aww!

I know, hey?! It was SO hard not to keep them. I hope I will get
pictures of how they used them all, and i will share that.

[attachimg=2]An on line group that I am in makes quilts for the
"graduates" of a course for first responders who have PTSD. This
       comes up about 5 times a year, X 6 quilts = about 30 quilts a
year roughly (they don't always have the same number of
students.) I was privileged to present the quilts to a class
last year, and this year was finally able to get the
co-ordinator of the project to go to one (she was laid off, so
not a good reason, but glad she was able to go!) The people are
always thrilled that there are people out there who care about
them. The leader of the course always gives a speech about that,
then when we are there, we have to say a few words. I made her
do it this time because I did it last time, and I get choked up
when the leader starts talking about "people who care..."! So
here's a picture of the grads, their quilts, and two of the
horses they use in the therapy. The one on the right, what a
character he was - so friendly, and when two of the people were
hugging, he was right in there hanging his head over their
       shoulders!

It's not wonderful that there's a need for the course, but it's
wonderful that you make quilts for it!
Kind-hearted, lovely people, all of you. [emoji178]

I'm sorting through some photos, and came across the stocking
ornaments made by "Auntie Gretchen". They may look a little
crumpled, but they have moved house more times than I care to
       count!
I know I first posted about them when Gmatoy was making her
stocking ornaments [however many years ago that was], and
threated to post a pic. Well, here's hoping this works!

Oh those are so cute, Miriam! Those are a good idea for our
Ronald McDonald House ornaments, I will have to keep them in
       mind.

The stocking [without the hanger] is about 3 - 3½" tall, and
it's all felt, apart from the scrap of glitzy trim & fake fur
top. She used to hand sew them, and the Beth Johnson Home would
sell them to raise funds at their Christmas fair. She also used
to make gift tags (using pinking shears) from used Christmas
cards. It was all stuff that a fairly frail little old lady
could do by hand, a bit at a time; but as she used to say, she
liked doing her bit for "the old people"...
She would accept that she was in her latter 80s, but not that
she was an "old person". Being a volunteer at the home kept her
young, we suspect. She was significantly older than many of the
residents [but that was a time when many people got old at
       retirement age].
Ah, I'm enjoying the memories. [emoji178]
