       Picture Thread

       ---------------------------------------------------------
This thread is for people to post Hobby/Craft/Art photos that
don't need a thread of their own or don't belong in Current
Projects. Like, if you see something wonderful that someone else
has made and you want to share it, you can post it (or a link if
it's elsewhere on line) here. If you have an old project that
you really like and want to show off, here's the place.

So just to start it off, here's a tea caddy that I made for a
challenge for my one quilt group. They provided the little
square with the picture on it (I took two as there were left
overs and I knew right away what I wanted to make!) and we had
to decide what to do with them. Another woman found the other
fabric when we all went on a shop hop and she graciously didn't
mind that I wanted to use the same! We don't reveal them until
late September or early October, and I still need to put a snap
       on the top flap.
Here's a link to the pattern:

       That's lovely!
The link doesn't work [blasted EU laws on 'not being able to
look at stuff on the internet' >:(], so I just want to clarify:
are there three (upside down) pockets along the top row, and
three on the bottom, and the two sides fold in and then it folds
up in the middle? If you see what I mean!

yes, you got it exactly. I didn't know you got restricted there
       - oh my! But that's a whole other discussion for elsewhere, I
       suppose!

       Thanks for that clarification, Pattycake.
That 'whole other discussion' is what sometimes makes my blood
boil, a little - I'm so glad when I can find Miss Manners on
Slate rather than uexpress [for instance]. Why I can get one
and not the other, who knows? I am trying to avoid all "things
that don't add to my happiness" just at the moment, so I'm going
to go back to sticking my fingers in my ears and trilling "la,
la, la, la, la" and catching up on BM&B! ;) ;D

These are items not made by me that I thought you might like to
see. The first is a quilt from a free on line Eleanor Burns
pattern that I would like to do some day. The "X"s in the
corners of the sashing look to be a bit of a challenge though as
the gal who did this one t the retreat seemed to have some
trouble with it. She added four blocks to it as she wanted it
bigger. There was a spare block with the pattern, and she added
the horse which she drew from a picture (though she said it's
just a bit too small and wishes she had done it a little
bigger), and the donkey, and the elevators. She also didn't like
the pieced tractor so she found some fabric with a John Deere! I
have seen the pattern, and the tractor is okay for me, so that's
       good.
       [attachimg=1]
And this dragon is fabulous - the picture doesn't do it justice
at all. It's not quite finished as some of the spikes on his
back aren't attached. This lady makes dolls too, and this is her
second dragon. They're definitely NOT toys! Now I want one, but
I don't have the patience to fiddle with the stuffing etc.

Oh my! Lucky for me my friend who collected PAST TENSE dragons
no longer has a good home for this one. Not remotely a toy.

Yesterday was apparently Giving Tuesday, so it was appropriate
that my on line group was taking this year's Christmas donation
to a local Ronald McDonald House. Here's some pictures from that
       epic adventure!
Three bags of quilts, amounting to approximately 60 preemie and
kid quilts! They give a quilt to EVERY child that stays at RMH,
which means the sick kid and ALL the siblings!
       [attachimg=1]     [attachimg=2]
       [attachimg=3]
There were almost 100 preemie hearts. These hearts are given in
pairs - one for mama and one for baby, to wear next to their
skin. Then when mama goes to visit, they swap hearts. This way
they each have the scent of the other with them.

Some of the stitchers also crochet and knit, and one gal made
about 30 preemie hats! And a couple of the women also made
afghans. RMH accepts all types of blankets.

Staff examining the (mostly) cross-stitched ornaments, nearly
200 donated, and the pile of quilts.
