       Woodstock at 50...

       ...did anyone here attend?
The summer of 1969 was to be a wonderful time for me. I was
granted my BA in early June. As a graduation present I would
take my first trip abroad in July and I had tickets for
Woodstock in August. A friend and I would stay with relatives
in the area and drive to the concerts for the three days of the
festival. Finally, I’d start graduate school in September to
       earn my MLS.
How naive all that seems now. Neither the trip, Woodstock nor
       grad school were to be.
Just before the trip I was hospitalized with appendicitis.
The day I was released from the hospital my father was admitted
with diverticulitis. In time, he would be fine but his recovery
took months and the family decided that it was best if I got a
job in the city and supported my mother while Dad was recovering
       from his surgery.
Woodstock was out of the question. I was able to sell my
tickets and we were able to get a refund for the trip but the
summer of 1969 was very different than what was originally
       planned.
After hearing about what happened at Woodstock I suppose I was
       fortunate.
Did anyone here attend Woodstock? If so, what do you remember
       about it?
(BTW, I finally managed to receive my MLS in 2000)

I was in the Army and got to see the movie in the fall of 1969,
in San Antonio, Texas at a civilian movie theater. I remember
that I told a friend, that I thought I was getting high on the
fumes of all the marijuana. And I remember that the audience was
very into singing along with some of the songs, especially the
       anti-war ones.
Quite some time later, I saw it again in a military theater at
Fort Dix, New Jersey. Oh, my goodness, what a difference in the
       audiences!
So, while I also did not go to the actual event, I do have some
       memories about the movie!

I was only 10 at the time, but I saw the movie later in theatres
(first time I ever smelt weed).
Thitpualso, from what I remember, you missed 3 days of what
looked like total misery. I think you were better off in a nice
       clean dry wherever than there.

I was only 6 months old in August of 1969 so no I didn't go to
       Woodstock. LOL.

I hadn't been born yet, so no, unless I went astrally. ;D
I've read descriptions that made some things sound really great,
and others sound really hellish. It's down to the individual, I
suppose. I went to the 2017 Women's March in DC, and it was much
the same thing. You accepted some inconvenience to be there, but
there were definitely issues, and people who complained about
stuff in retrospect didn't always understand why things happened
       the way they did.
