Then again, this theory goes back at least to the beginning of
the 20th century (it was published in a Boy Scout manual in
1908), when medical people probably did believe in it. Certainly
the profession was unsure enough for multiple studies to be
performed in the 1960s to 'settle the question'.
There was also the 'rule' that for some reason one shouldn't eat
ice cream after swimming. And the one that said that after
swimming you should always eat something solid, such as a
biscuit (Rightpondian biscuit) or piece of cake. We kids were
all in favour of that one.

Birthmarks are angel kisses. I had a very large, dark birthmark
on my finger, and it was much nicer to think of it as an angel
kiss.
