Oh my! Railroad campaign to encourage courtesy

I regularly commute on the Long Island Railroad.
The LIRR has a campaign going right now to encourage passengers
to be courteous to each other.
I didn't realize that keeping my feet off the seats, placing
trash in the bin, storing bags on the luggage rack, and texting
instead of making a cellphone call were "superpowers", but
apparently the railroad thinks so.

Sometimes these messages work, especially if they are humorous.
When I go to the movies there is a message, sometimes humorous,
about not talking and turning off devices. There are almost no
instances of people talking or their cell phones going off.

I like the cheesy capes (precisely because they are cheesy).

Yeah - a humorous "please do it this way" gets a bit more
attention than a stern talking down to the idjits who are doing
it all wrong approach. Although that mean teacher looking over
their glasses at you approach *might* work if the ad campaign
can make a joke out of it.

These remind me of the "Goofus and Gallant" comics from
Highlights magazine. Only without Goofus.

It's a more tactful approach, because it makes riders think "I
make someone else's day by being considerate. And now I can
expect other people to show the same courtesies to me in
return." Although I did laugh when I saw there was a smaller
"man with feet on the seat" photo attached to the "she keeps her
feet on the floor" poster.

reminds me of the "Sit Down" campaign by the NFL? MLB?. A little
humor goes a long way. (tried to find it on YouTube, no luck.)

I think it's fun; I hope it works.
[Every time I see shoes on seats, I think of dog-poop on
pavements (and how footprints show that not everyone notices it
in time), and that's the reason I choose airline seats whenever
possible (more difficult to get shoe to seat).]
