I think I’d flat ask “Susan, did you invite Mary to my house?”

That's fine too but ask in a nice way at first. Mary is the OP's
friend. A good enough friend to be invited to her home. She may
be confused by the OP's answer to her inquiry about letting
Susan know about the visit. Give her the benefit of the doubt
that she was clueless and not overstepping. Perhaps Mary will be
embarrassed and know better next time. Give her a chance to
apologize.

I would say "Hey Mary, I was thinking about something you
said...you said that "Susan said she couldn't come."...but I
never invited Susan as i am not that close with her and I assume
you would not invite her to my house..what is going on?"

No real update. Susan is getting laid off next month so unlikely
she’ll be asking to visit. I hope 😀

Getting laid off? Just hope she doesn't plan on asking to move
