The designers seem to make the manual flush option unobtrusive
almost to the point of invisibility. Then there are the three
to four inch levers on the side of manual commercial toilets
that some people apparently have no idea what the thing does or
they may think that it’s dirty... but I find a lot of manual
toilets are no longer reliably flushed because some people just
expect all toilets, except at home, to be automatic.

Then there's that unobtrusive shuffle you try to do - walk
towards the door, it's not flushing. Why is it not flushing?
Walk back, can't find the button. Maybe I have to get further
away. Walk up and scrunch up next to the door, since I won't
open the door, no matter how many are waiting, until the stupid
thing flushes. Wait a bit - maybe it needs more time. Walk back
towards the toilet. Where IS that stupid button??? No button, or
it's invisible. Walk back to the door, try to unobtrusively lean
out, despite the line of people looking at me like I'm insane.
       YAY! Flushing!
This is how I can spend several minutes trying to flush a
       toilet.

       ^LOL!
That's a dance akin to me wildly waving my hands under the
faucet at the sink to turn on the water . . . when it's a manual
       sink, not motion detected. ::)

       I just walked in on a co-worker in the bathroom! :-\ :-[
The door lock indicated the stall was available so I pushed the
door, bashed it into her knees and promptly made eye contact.
       Yikes!
After hastily mumbling an apology, I went to the furthest stall
away on the opposite side of the washroom.
"Usually I'm in here by myself, so I don't lock the door." She
       said. Whuhhhh????!!!

Ugh! Besides that she should lock the door regardless, she must
have heard you come in so why not lock it then or hold the door
so you couldn't open it? Besides that even, take the last stall,
not the first one that most people head for when they come in if
you're not going to lock it!

It would be hard not to reply "Does this look like your home
       bathroom, Linda ?"

I don't generally lock or even fully shut the toilet door when I
need to go at work, however, I work alone with the doors locked
so nobody can get in, and need to be able to hear customers
picking up the pumps (the till chimes) or ringing the doorbell.
If there's someone with me (shift changeover time, or training
someone or once the doors are open) I always shut & lock the
       door!

Add me to the group not understanding why anyone has a speaker
phone conversation in public. At work we had a lady that did
this constantly. She'd sit on the toilet and have a loud speaker
phone conversation. It was hilarious once because the other
speaker heard a flush and exclaimed "Did someone just flush a
       toilet Karen??!!" LOL.
Another time I was at the YMCA working out and became aware that
a woman was moving from treadmill to stairclimber to bike all
while on a loud FACECHAT conversation. They were talking about
some pretty personal things. I finally had enough and told her
to please turn it off, that everyone could hear her full
conversation and it was rude. I would have told the staff but
they were little old ladies mostly just sweeping the floor at
that time of day. She didn't even say she was sorry but put in
her headphones so at least we couldn't hear her friend talk
about her monthly cycle of all things!

I once had the treat of sitting one cafe table away from some
kind of life coach who was holding a session with one of her
clients via Skype. Despite having never met the lady on the
other end, I think I know more about her now than some of her
       friends do.
