Smudge is home from I 131 treatment!

My 12 year old "kitten" Smudge was diagnosed with hyperthyroid
about a year ago. We had her on the pills and she was doing
well, but pilling a cat 2x a day was wearing thin for all of us.
I researched the I 131 which I had first heard about on The
Critter Room with FDJ. Smudge was an excellent candidate for the
treatment so on Monday I took her over the state line to a vet
clinic which does the treatment. Her doctor over there has been
doing this since the 80's.
Smudge had textbook perfect uptake on the radioactive iodine, on
both side so she is very probably totally cured!!!!!
We brought her home today and other than singing the song of her
people the WHOLE trip back, she was a perfect girl. (I was
expecting a bit of revenge pooping in her carrier, just at we
hit the freeway, but she was really good.)
She is going to be grumpy for a while since she won't be able to
sleep with us and we have to limit cuddle time, but I'm happy if
she will now have a happy, healthy life!
