right now the fireworks end arond 9:30 and the park officially
stays open until 10, so either leaving before the event or
waiting until 10 are the only ways to avoid the stampede.

I would have been tempted to respond "Thank goodness the father
of my children doesn't injure people without apologizing." Maybe
that's why people hand me treats at the theme parks, before I
can open my big mouth ;)

In my neighborhood we’ve had ‘stroller wars’ for at least 25
years. Many of the shops here are small and have narrow aisles.
When strollers are involved, getting in and out to buy things
can be a challenge.
You have Mom with an infant in ‘Baby’s First Hummer’, a slightly
older child on the buddy board and a still older child riding a
scooter on the side. Dad is carrying bags of shopping and has
an enthusiastic dog on a leash. Add The people coming out of
the subway who don’t know the neighborhood but are either going
to open house viewings of apartments for sale or visiting
patients in a nearby hospital. Almost everybody’s on the phone
or stops in odd places to take photographs.
Going out to buy a container of milk becomes an exercise in
broken-field running.

Yep.

Agreed.

The strollers that they're allowing are still quite large: "If
your stroller is larger than 31 inches (79 cm) wide and 52
inches (132 cm) long, it won't get inside the park." My guess is
that they're trying to cram more people in for Star Wars
Galaxy's Edge.
They also finally banned smoking inside the parks. Now they have
to enforce it. Given their laissez-faire attitude toward guest
behavior, we'll have to wait to see how that works out.

And we haven’t even addressed electric scooters.
My friend uses one, and she’s very careful about how she drives
it. I wish everyone would follow her example.

Oh, I thought those came with a license to go as fast as
possible and get over annoyed when people can't get out of the
way fast enough. #sarcasm
I am glad your friend is careful but there are some...

My dad's rest home calls me to warn me he has gone out on his
scooter. He does not know/care that there are drivers &
pedestrians also out & about. ::)

When the local Raley’s brought in their first scooters, they
were much faster than the ones around today. My father had a
field day blazing around the store - no one was safe. It was
literally the highlight of his week.

We had the same problem with FIL. He was given a scooter at his
retirement community but was so reckless that his ‘license’ got
revoked.

I wouldn't have done anything differently from you.
I agree that making a thing of it wouldn't have done anything
useful.
I also would probably have hung way back and aimed to be the
last person out of the door. That's what I do in almost any
"crowds at the exit" situation. I sometimes get shooed out of my
seat, but I dawdle; I don't see how it helps anybody to be in a
hurry.
I don't try to avoid the stampede; I just try to be in the
last ranks of it.
