Quite the news cycle today ::) Here's hoping that we've seen the
worst of it, although I won't hold my breath. My thoughts:
- We may never know the motives of Mr. Markle, Meghan's half
siblings, and their relatives. One thing for sure is that they
are naive & ill-equipped to deal with the media. After this
weekend the media will likely discard them and their lives will
be worse :(
- Good to see a lack of evidence that Mr. Markle was disinvited
to the wedding. But I imagine the royal family's patience and
nerves have worn thin.
- I wish Mr. Markle a successful surgery tomorrow and better
health.
- Although they have more wealth and status than most of us will
ever know, the British royal family and celebrities such as
Meghan Markle have the same problems as the rest of us. We're
fortunate in being able to share our problems anonymously on
this wonderful forum rather than having them end up in the
international news.
- On the upside, when life gives you lemons, make a wedding cake
;D

Couldn't really care less, I'm working in the morning - we were
talking about it yesterday and only one of my colleagues was
saying she wanted to watch it - everyone else was fairly blase
When William got married we climbed Snowdon and drove 3-4hours
home so missed it all.
I'll probably look at some photos to see what her dress is like
- but I'd do that with most weddings

THey're airing it here at 7.30pm on Saturday night which is very
civilised. I'm having some friends over to stickybeak and form
opinions on everything.

I live 10 miles from Windsor, it’s already insanely busy around
here/there - people camping out to get prime viewing spots.
We had already planned a party for the 19th months ago, well
before the wedding date was announced. Rather than cancelling it
I have changed it to a ‘princess’ party - my husband is dressing
up as Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, I am the Queen of
Hearts....we have a Leia coming as well. TV will be on, Pimms
and canapés are being served.
I think her half-siblings are toxic, and that her father was led
in a direction he should not have gone. From the sound of it,he
has also been talking to TMZ before he told Meghan he wasn’t
coming. Poor form.

I won't be able to watch it as I did Will and Kate's wedding. I
am actually in the UK right now and will be flying back to the
United States the day of the wedding.

What a terrific party idea! Can't wait to hear how it goes.
I agree with your call on Meghan's father, Aussie_Foodie. Even
though he has show-biz experience, he's a rank amateur when it
comes to dealing with the press. The poor guy is getting eaten
alive in the news & social media, and I feel more sorry for him
than angry with him. Worst part is that it also hurts Meghan and
casts a shadow over the wedding festivities.
On a happier note, I found this summary of royal wedding
traditions, which includes some rather fascinating info on
reception cuisine:

I'm teaching all day on Saturday so I won't be able to watch it
live, but I guess I'll watch it on catch-up when I get home.
I'm not a massive royalist, but I do like William and Harry; I
think Harry especially has turned into an exceptional young man
when you consider how off the rails he was going in his teens
(unsurprisingly), and Meghan seems lovely, so I'm happy for
them. And I'm really curious to see the dress.
