Are you looking for something new in your life? Are you tired of
the hustles and bustles of the same old routine? Do you want a
peace of mind or are you just looking for a new adventure? Then,
apply now to the Philippine Humanistic Academy of Life and Arts!
This is a program under Fo Guang Shan (an international Chinese
Mahayana Buddhist monastic order) Philippines. It's branch
temple in Bacolod is Yuan Thong Temple along Burgos Street,
Bacolod City.
The Philippine Humanistic Academy of Life and Arts (also called
HALA) is now accepting new scholars who want to experience a
total different lifestyle!
The program will start on April 15 until August 15 2012 (four
months). Only 15 applicants will be accepted.
I also attended this program just last year. I had foreign
classmates too from Russia and Germany and local ones coming
from Manila and Bicol. I was the only one from the city. If
you're into learning new stuff, this is for you 8)
If you have any questions please feel free to ask, don't
hesitate to send me a message. The application for the program
is until March 15, 2012. More time to think :))
Attached herewith is the invitation to join HALA. :)

thank you! :D the thing is, this is really for self-cultivation.
The participant must stay only inside the temple (for 4 months)
with 1 free day per week which is every monday (the organizers
shall decide how many hours). The reason for you to go out is to
buy yer personal stuff like toiletries/laundry things/yer own
food or snack or maybe go home if yer from the city :D Beside
from that everything's free.
During my stay twas allowed to bring laptop, the temple has wifi
:D You can also have trips in/outside the city (depending on
the schedule) mostly to experience meditation with nature.
You also get to experience first-hand Buddhism and chinese
culture in the City of Smiles! ;D
The attached invitation (on my first post) states the
requirements for the program ;)
Thank You!

Very interesting indeed. I recently started yoga for the very
first time (started December 2011) and I really like it. I
should give Taichi a chance!
I'm curious, does this retreat welcome Christians too? It's not
religious or is it?

hello Admin! there are a little bit just little little bit of
yoga before and after meditation (just making yerself
comfortable) :) the program is open to everybody! Me, myself,
doesn't have any religion. I can say that Buddhism doesn't have
any discrimination regarding religion. They believe that
everybody's capable to achieve enlightenment or everybody can be
a buddha :))
Religious? I might say yes, because Buddhism is their main
religion as well as their way of life. If yer accepted, you'll
need to join the chanting every morning and every full moon.
Buddhists from the city come over for chanting every once in a
while so you'll also get to meet them :)
There are also Dharma classes, more like our term for
'"spreading the word". And what's pretty interesting is
everything has a story like million years ago or in the past
life or yer future life haha
You'll also get to meet the monghas. During my stay, I only met
one guy monk :))
I hope I answered yer question and for the one you said about
Thailand in the other link :) Fo Guang Shan is under the
Mahayana school of Buddhism. Buddhism practiced in Thailand, on
the other hand, is under Theravada school :) You'll get to learn
more of the difference once you join the program ;)
