       Hunting/Skinning - Pelts for Disturbia

Deep within the forests or mountains hunting for furs or game
says to ALL: Frost had gathered on me. A light dusting of snow
it looked like, collected all throughout the hair of my beard.
But still I didn’t move. I was uncomfortable, and my legs were
well passed the point of cramping, and my body was frozen almost
painfully so, and yet, I still laid unmoving. I laid on my back,
feet together with my hands gathered in front of the center of
my chest, my spear running from the bottom of my chin down to
between my ankles roughly, I laid as though I would at my own
eventual pyre, but I was far from dead, even if unmoving for the
last few ahns that passed. I was lucky when I happened upon the
snow sleen I had stretching now in my room at the tavern, but
this time I was actually stalking and hunting my prey. I used
the “left over” the innards from the original beast, minus the
brain, Disturbia wanted the brain, and spread the meat and blood
over the trees and scattered bit among the snow all around the
area I laid in. Bait and wait seemed to be my method today, and
it was about to pay off as a medium to large sized snow sleen
made his way towards me, unknown of my location. I watched, my
icy stare locked onto the slow and uncertain steps of the beast.
Watched as he took one slow step after the other sniffing at the
ground and wondering exactly what it was smelling. It knew it
was blood, but where was the delicious carcass I’m sure it was
thinking, up until the point I sat up like a bolt, bring the
spear from the middle of my chest to up and over my shoulder, I
held it about three quarters down, nearer the butt end, with
most of the weapon in front of me, the 8” killing tip pointed at
the chest of the sleen who by now was only setting its gaze upon
the figure that came out of no where, its body readying to turn
and run, I had already prepared for that, took my lead with the
aim and threw, the spear ripping through the air with an
inaudible hiss and a hollow thud as it pierced the body of the
snow sleen, in front of the left front most limb and below the
neck. It looked like a clean lung/heart shot, and the beast
fumbled in its run, landing upon its chin and sliding barely
       another few feet…dead…before it stopped.

Deep within the forests or mountains hunting for furs or game
says to ALL: I lifted from the snow and ice, and growled. As if
that would help to warm me up as every part of my bosy screamed
with a chill. I walked over to the newly bagged sleen and knelt
to inspect it, and the wound. She was healthy in appearance, and
her pelt was clean, minus the blood stain in the front where my
spear landed. I held the body, the spear protruding from chest
wound and between the hold of my thumb and webbing of my hand,
so I didn’t tear flesh or muscle as I removed it with a squishy
satisfying squirt of blood. I lashed my rope around one of her
legs, near her ankle, and then lashed the other foot around
tightly to that. Offering me a decent grip to drag the beast
home. Or at least out back of the tavern, another pelt for the
doctor, another way of passing the time of the days.

says to ALL: Eventually I made it back to the outlet and back to
the tavern with the sleen drug behind me. I stuck the butt of
the spear into the snow, and made my way to the frame. I had
made a make shift tripod. Some 10’ high with a fishing hook
lodge tight at the crossing. I lifted and dropped the lashed
ankles of the sleen over the hook so that he was hung upside
down from the frame. There was also a work table behind the
tavern and stabbed into its surface was a knife. Nothing worth
mentioning, it was a work knife, not a weapon, a sharp edge. I
used the blade to slice the sleens throat, and as the blood
began to pour in a steady stream from the wound to the ice and
snow under it, I used the toe of my boot to urge a bucket
beneath it again for more baiting and turned back to stab the
       table with the knife again.

says to ALL: So I had the new sleen hanging by its back set of
legs from the frame and draining. That would take over night, so
that was all I could do with this one, I turned around and
looked for the first animal I killed. I left it in the capable
hands of my property. She was to finish it up to prepare it for
delivery. I happened upon the head of the thing, still sitting
there in all its grossness in the pail, skull and brains and
all. I winced a little, and used my boot to slide it a little
further under the work table, out of sight. Then I bent at the
snow and took a handful of it up, using it to wipe any of the
creatures blood from my palms and fingers, washing up before I
       would handle the finished product.

says to ALL: The sleen pelt had been staked out in one of hte
rooms I didnt use. the fire now going to help dry it out. I had
just finished bringing the brains to a boil and letting it cool
just enough that I could reach inside and start to squish the
brains around. breaking them up and making the water a bit
thicker. the smell well.. wasnt good at all. I took a steady
breath and lifted the pot and carried it to the room. it was
warm in here, setting the bucket down I looked over the pelt and
had to smile. First I knelt beside it and took the knife.
carefully making sure all the meat, fat and anything else was
cleaned from it. It was very well cleaned. None the less I would
always check. ONce I was sure it was cleaned and ready I took
the brain mixture and started to add it in small amounts over
the backside of the pelt. I was careful as I still wanted the
sleen hair left on the other side. using a scraper once I had
some of the brains on the hide I would start to carefully move
it around, working it into the hide. This would take days and
much time. I worked at a steady pace to make sure the brain
solution would get worked into every area of the pelt..
