EL sets off to obtain sleen pups...

says to ALL: I had emptied all my packs, and was going through
the inventory of each item I carried. My eyes kept moving and
lingering on the med kit I always carried with me, and I would
shake my head and mumble to myself no that I will check over
last as it always costs me the most pain. I had three piles
going they ranged like this: put back into the packs, leave
here, and wear. The lighter weight shirts were staying behind,
the heavy thick fire lined shirts were going with, would start
out with a light jacket, light shirt, and leather pants, and the
light boots, which I would change to the sea sleen boots once I
got to the colder regions of this world.

says to ALL: The bottom of the pack was filled with thick woolen
socks. My shield and sword would stay behind both would do me
little to no good where I was going, on the other hand I would
take the staffs and the spear heads, and would pick up my cached
weapons on the way.
The last time I had made this trip I was running away from the
world, this time I'm going out to bring back snow sleen pups for
aithne, if I was lucky I would be able to buy them from the
Innuit's (which means "The People)other goreans call them "the
Red Hunter's of gor", not to be mixed up with the Red Savages of
Gor. If not then I would have to do it the hard way.

says to ALL: Sitting down in a chair in the room at the table, I
pulled the med kit over, and started threading gut through the
needles. Thinking to myself as I first tried to bring the eye of
the needle to the gut, then the gut to the needle, most would
wonder why I pre thread the needles, the answer is simple your
bleeding from a wound are you really going to want to take the
time to try and thread the blasted needles while bleeding to
death....I think not. So yeah I pre threaded my needles.

says to ALL: In both packs I packed bazi tea, as well as sugar,
while in one pack I packed less sugar then the other. The reason
behind this is because the pack with the most sugar in it would
be used in trade, just incase I lucked out and new born pups had
been born to the Innuits. They have a big sweet tooth for sugar
and as I have seen with my own two green eyes have no issues
eating 5 pounds of sugar in less then five minutes. I would also
pack on my sled when I got to it some of the wood I had chopped
and stored for trading purposes.

says to ALL: Placing willow bark, and the jar of numbing salve
back in the med kit. I kept the loaded needles in another place,
if I had to use them they would be on hand. For the most part
everything was done, minus the milk supplies. If I lucked out, I
would end up drinking a lot of milk, if not well the milk would
come in handy, that is...well I wasn't going to say it because
there is no such word as "if"

says to ALL: I had left the room, and headed to the market on
the right path, I had my packs in hand, and had my bota filled
with blackwine the way I liked it by sol before I left the hall,
I thanked her for the brew and taking the time to pour it into
the bota for me, and she gave me the oddest look, but I simply
smiled and winked and thanked her all the same. Once in the
market I bought three bosk milk bota's, and 3 verr milk bota's
in case the pups were still being fed by mommy sleens milk.

says to ALL: I took the pathway as far as it would take me and
then stepped into the forest, where I once walked heavy and loud
I was suddenly walking lite nd quietly. It would be a long walk
as I needed to get my bearings, and to pick up my cache, as I
said it had been a long time since I was last in these parts it
would take me while to figure out which way to go, last time I
came this way I did not stop in the Ax I went around it. So I
would look at the trees when first light came upon me, for now I
would find a spot to camp. (to be continued).

says to ALL: Waking up after and looking around I allowed my
eyes to once again grow custom this time to the light, for a
while there I was trying to figure out how exactly I was covered
in all of this frost. Climbing out from under the fur I shivered
the morning air was cold, my fire was nothing but ashes and hot
coals, which I stirred up briskly before settling down to
patiently add bits and pieces of thin branches and pine cones
until I got a nice blaze going and was able to add the bigger
pieces of the wood to the fire.

says to ALL: Setting my pan on the flames I added some of the
water to my bota. While this was cooking I ground up my
blackwine beans. Setting them in my rep towel for when I would
run the hot water through them, I would miss drinking the
blackwine with sugar and milk but sometimes a man has to rough
it. Besides sol wasn’t here and well she does make a nice mug of
blackwine for me…

says to ALL: Pouring the water into the mug I was careful to
pour a little at a time, but still managed to burn myself a tiny
bit when the noise started. You could hear the chitterling of
what sounded like a jungle beast followed by the sounds of a
girl telling a Jit if he didn’t get back to her this instance
she was 1. Going to tell the Mistress Nyah on him and 2 she was
going to tell sol on him. I grinned at this and thought that
rascal worthless was following me, which meant the girl was
following the jit and oh my.

says to ALL: And sure enough just as I finished pouring the
water over my ground beans came the jit running in and ducking
under my furs his head peeking out as if to say “damn EL its
cold out here”. And shortly behind him ran in the bond. She
skidded to the tips of her toes eyeing me, then said “Greetings
Jarl, have you seen worthless, that worthless jit done ran me
ragged all night long”, and she kept going and going and going,
until I put my index finger to my lips and said shush. Pointing
to the log across from the fire I motioned her to sit, she did
so even though she kept looking around like “oh oh what has that
Jit gotten me into now type look”. Moving stuff around in my
pack I pulled out some cheese, and a bit of bread, passing it to
her I said eat. Then I sat back and sipped my luke warm
blackwine thinking this matter out.

says to ALL: What do you do when you’re a little over 300
pasangs away from the home, and you find a jit and a bond having
followed you, now mind you really it wasn’t like the girl had
purposely followed you…no on the contrary she was just following
the jit, or I should say chasing after the jit. So there was
this girl doing what I told her to do, which was to eat, and the
jit in the furs, as my eyes traveled from the girl to the furs
and back the light suddenly dawned on the girl and yes I could
actually read her thoughts at the moment. She stood up thanked
me for the meal and said something about going to find
worthless, I told her not to fret if she wanted she could join
the jit in getting warm inside the furs.
It took a while I suppose for it to register that I had told her
right where the jit was, it took her less time to get into the
furs with the jit scolding him the whole time. Pulling a bit of
paper from my pouch I wrote a simple note and attached it into
the message cylinder on my fleer’s foot. He knew the way back to
Nyah’s home as I had introduced him to her home on the day I had
asked to join the home.
br> Unstrapping him from my arm I held my arm up and said “Go
knock on Nyah’s door” Then lifting my arm up higher he took off
towards her home with the note intact. The note said “Worthless
and bond (NPC) with EL”.

says to ALL: Sitting here would do no good, we were close to the
sled, so that was a good thing. Up you two time to move out, I
looked at worthless, you followed me now you behave or else I
might have to use you as whale bait. The bond got out of the
furs along with worthless who didn’t look to happy at the moment
being chased out of a warm spot I just looked at him, giving him
a piece of fruit I growled a bit and he settled back looking
almost like a little lost boy who had run away from home to
adventure, and yes I almost laughed but I was in the process of
trying to keep a straight face. The bond had rolled up the furs,
and I put out the fire. Handing two o the bota’s to worthless I
said to him, you best keep up, and those are yours to carry, we
all pull our weight out here to survive even Jits who run away
from home! With that I turned and said heel to the girl, and
continued towards where I had left the sled.
The going was slow we had to stop several times as the forest
sleens were having a field day at mating, the girl watched with
interest and asked quietly “Jarl why do they mate like that? “
Grinning I took the time to eplain it, “Sleens mate for life,
the first time around its rough and aggressive the male has to
take charge capture the female and once he has his teeth around
her neck, turning her over until they are belly to belly, and
that is how they mate, now the next time he mates with her he
will not be as rough as she will simply submit to him and roll
over.” She giggled and said much like a bond and a Jarl”. I
chuckled at this and nodded my head up and down. Once the sleens
cleared out and the direction of the wind had shifted we moved
out , we reached the sled about midday which was none to soon
because by now worthless was cranky and tired.

says to ALL: I was dressed warm for this adventure; these two on
the other hand were not. The first thing I did was I got the
girl and the jit back into the furs, okay the furs were wrapped
around them. Then I pulled the snow laddened branches off the
sled, and uncovered it. Pulling out the spare boots I looked
first at the girl and then at the jit. Finally I found a pair of
thigh high boots for the bond. She looked at them, then at me,
and my answer was this “have you ever seen a man snap a steel
nail in two as if it was nothing but a piece of bread?” She
shook her head no, and said rather quietly no Jarl. I answered
remind me when we get where we are going and I will show you
just that, heck I will even let you break one. She giggled t
this and put the boots on.

says to ALL: I then handed her a long tailed shirt, and a parka,
well I told her where the parka was as it got colder she would
need to wear it, I showed her where the grass was stored to push
into her boots, by now she was getting the picture that where
she was headed was a cold place to be. I had to think of
something that would keep her collar warm, else it would
splinter in the cold artic climate, and eventually I would
figure it out, but for now she was all set. The Jit well he was
easy gave him knee high boots, and a nice long tailed shirt like
mine. And a tiny parka just for him which I knew once it got
cold enough that jitt would enjoy the parka and not want to ever
take it off. Of course he looked like a large snow ball once it
was all on him, and he couldn’t move as fast as he could before,
but he still ended up having a bit of fun.
I loaded the sled, telling the jit to get on the sled, while the
bond and I dragged the sled behind us. We lucked out at dusk
that evening and managed to enter one of the Red Hunter’s camps,
I kept the bond close to me, and we were all welcomed into their
camp as if we were family. The children of the red hunters had
never seen a jit before, so of course worthless was the life of
the party, everyone sat watching the little fella, here is where
we would stop for the night. I would trade for a snow sleen in
the morning as this camp did not have any pups on hand for sale,
the snow sleen would pull the sled to take us further in.

says to ALL: The people up here accept you as family and friend
as there are no enemies, by the time the introductions of who so
and so was, I was almost worn out. I had the bond with me
introduce me to one of the other men Greeting’s Jarl, this is
Jarl EL. After that everyone started introducing each of the men
and women there. There is no such thing as enemy here in the
frozen north, everyone is a friend, just some of us even though
we tower over these people are related…only the blue dot on the
back of the neck tells the tale.
Now you can’t start to do business first, it’s never the way it
is, the introductions, the morning breakfast, the sitting around
singing songs, the laughter, and just having a grand time of
things. I leaned to the side and softly said to her, the
Innuit’s they have no issues showing emotions, it is a part of
their culture and way of life here. She nodded her head and
smiled she and worthless were having the time of their life and
for once the jit was behaving himself.

says to ALL: And then the women came forward they looked over
the wares, you could see the serious look in their eyes, as well
as that playful twinkle first they picked everything up, looking
it all over. Then the circle of women formed and for some odd
reason all I could think of was a gackling of vulu hens getting
together to squawk at the rooster. So then they named a price
which was so low I had to laugh, and I named a price higher than
they would pay and they started wailing bout long-lost cousin EL
trying to take advantage of all the little old grandmother’s,
and if only my grandparents were there to see it how shamed they
would be of EL. So they went back to their circle some looking
back at me with playful hurt in their eyes, and a lot of giggles
in the circle, I leaned over to one of the men and said is it
always like this? He looked at me and said you think they are
bad, just wait until the grandfather’s get ahold of you.

says to ALL: So again they came at me with another low price,
and I with another high price, again they wailed pulling and
tugging at their clothing and hair. This went on for at least
two hours, and the whole time I was steadily wondering just why
I was here again. Finally the price was settled upon. By the
time we finished with all of the trading it was high noon now,
and everyone set about eating a meal, and telling stories.
I know this all might sound trivial, but it was what I was after
although the main reason I was here was because of the snow
sleen pups

says to ALL: I listened to the low price, followed it by a high
price and we hit the mid ground with plenty of time to spare.
They had all my goods minus the sugar, and I had all their
goods, minus what I needed the most. I had plenty of time to
think about this, from point A to point B, and the more I
thought about it the more I knew being “super Gorean” was not
always the good thing. I asked about the snow sleens and if they
knew of any wild sleen with pups. It got quiet for a few and
then the stories began, until finally the plans were made, come
night fall we would be at the den of the great beast, there was
a rumor that there were two snow sleens in that area. We would
hunt the sleens together, I would keep one of the snow sleen
pelts, and they would keep the other, the pups would be mine to
do with as I wished. The meat would be divided among everyone as
nothing was ever wasted.

says to ALL: We went swift with our hunting gear, all of us with
spears the bond had stayed in the camp with the others,
including worthless, or so I thought that foolish jit managed to
sneak away and follow us, but what I didn’t know was that he had
snuck out and was following behind us, I would find it out
later. We were not far from the burrow when the Jit let his
presence known of course I could hardly blame him as a very
angry snow sleen was on his six. So there was worthless dressed
as a red hunter with one of the children’s toy spears in his
hand and the rest of him moving towards us at top speed. We saw
what was behind him stood our ground our spears. Our feet firmly
planted where we stood as the beast roared down on us, and the
jit well he was behind the line of us, I really wasn’t paying
too much attention to him until I heard the silent rumbling
roar, my mind was on the first sleen the one that had chased the
crazy jit.

says to ALL: I turned around to see what was making the ungodly
noise and there was worthless, the crazy torvie adopted red
hunter urchin pushing his spear inside what could only be the
den of the mother sleen messing with her and her babies, and the
roaring sounds was the mother sleen coming up out of her den
snapping away the spear in worthless’s hands. It went flying one
way and there was worthless leaping on top of this crazed out
mother sleen.

says to ALL: Here is this beast raised up on her hind legs
swatting at herself, shaking her head and body to and fro trying
to dislodge worthless who has as much sense as anyone and hangs
on tight to the beasts ear screaming away as if the wild snow
sleen was killing him “which if you ask me she would if she
could get her claws or teeth on him. Stepping away from the
others I moved towards the sleen with my spear held tight in my
hands, my steps might have seemed like slow motion but I was
moving faster than that, and praying to Odin and Thor and even
Loki that my mark would be true. I thrust the spear at her neck,
but she moved at the last moment and I would blame worthless for
that as he was in the process of biting into her left ear and
the beast snapping at the air bit down on the spear head that
went into her mouth instead of her neck, and can we say here she
became a very pissed off snow sleen.

says to ALL: The spear still in her mouth traveled down into her
throat, her breath hot on my hands as I suddenly thrust it
deeper letting go at the same time, drawing out the only other
thing I was carrying. I yelled at worthless (not that it did any
good and don’t ask me what I yelled cause I don’t know).
Charging at the snow sleen I buried the knife in my hand into
her neck, just as worthless bit down again at the snow sleens
ear, his hands digging into her eyes and yes damn it he was
still screaming, the beast was screaming and for a slight moment
I had this thought of getting on top of the snow sleen with
worthless.

says to ALL: Her claws swung out I felt them slam into my
shoulder through the fabric of my parka first the left side,
then the right side and then my chest burning as her claws raked
down my sides, and what was I doing you might ask? I was pushing
what was left of my spear deeper into her mouth and throat while
hanging on to the knife in her throat that I was repeatedly
pulling out and plunging right back in and screaming. Yes I
admit it I screamed, “Don’t you fucking dare bite me! Among
other things.
Worthless had at some point, jumped down off the beast he had
run to one of the hunters that had been injured while fighting
the first sleen worthless grabbed his spear and ran back to
where I was, he had blood in his eyes and a song in his heart as
he started whacking that mad and dying sleen repeatedly. The
sleen lay there dying swatting at the air, as worthless in all
his joy was beating the crap out of the dead sleen as if to say
“take that you big bully!”

says to ALL: (grumbles about hotels and wifi)The hunters wasted
no time, they moved in and started dressing the dead sleen,
worthless and I moved to the den of the beast and started
digging our way into its burrow looking at worthless with glassy
green eyes, I said to him go get the pups worthless, bring me
the pups, and quick as a wink the jit was in the hole wiggling
his body until he was lost from my sight only to return a few
moments later with two pups that he placed in my lap, and then
back into the hole he went coming back out with two more pups,
he ducked back in one more time but reappeared without any more,
and all I could say to him was good job my friend, good job.

says to ALL: It took us a while but once the butchering was
finished we moved back to the camp where several of us faced the
dreadful horrors of the healer on hand. To tell you I took it
like a man would be truthful in a way, but I won’t lie about it,
I cursed like a drunken sailor as the wounds were being cleaned
and dealt with, and I’m pretty sure I would have passed out a
few times had they not woke me up each time I tried to take a
nap. Evil Healers they be, don’t let a man rest while they
doctor them up.
While all of this was taking place the bond and the jit and
others started the sleen pups on bottle feedings they could not
have been more than three weeks old, makes note to pay the bond
that wished for these nice pups back. The last thing I remember
doing before passing out for some much needed rest was having
the barrel of sugar pulled out. The last thing I saw before my
eyes closed was all those people chowing down on the sugar as if
it was their first and last meal.
