       In order for decarbonization to emerge from this perverse logic,
       it is necessary to decommodify and decolonize it based on a
       structural challenge. Any just and comprehensive ecosocial
       transition hypothesis must face this challenge and cannot be
       anchored only at the local level –as is often the case–, but
       must also consider the geopolitical level as a priority. This
       implies incorporating the imperative of degrowth on the part of
       the global North, as well as the ecological debt that it owes to
       the peoples of the South, seeking to generate bridges between
       the actors and critical diagnoses in pursuit of global
       ecological justice.

       decrease in several
       areas: in terms of consumption, reduction of the sphere of
       commodification, dematerialization of production,
       transportation, and distribution of working hours. Although in
       many of the degrowth proposals the aforementioned factors appear
       articulated to a logic of social redistribution,
       “dematerialization” –that is, the reduction in the intensity of
       the use of raw materials and energy– is inexorable.

       Although it is a priority responsibility of the global North,
       this does not mean that it is "only a matter of the North", as
       is often argued in the public debate, and that the South has to
       claim its "right to development", since they are the called
       development and the logic of unsustainable growth that today
       pushes us to collapse.
