SCEFL Next Season

So, after leaks and rumours to the contrary, the provisional
line up for the scefl Premier Division does include Ashford Utd
after all. Although the constitution of the Division does still
require ratification by the AGM, it does now look likely that
AUFC will continue to compete in the same league.

Never underestimate the new teams, Sheppey looked good in the
cup final, Whitstable will be looking to boun.ce straight back
and the Wells can't be as bad again next season

Front Runners
AUFC (if all goes well) with the retained players and the new
names, has to make you favorites (no pressure)
Sheppey: will be a front runner, with out a doubt one of the
best facility's you will visit next season,
H&B: we will always give as good as we get, new management, 1
and possibly another 2 players leaving and joining AUFC, top 5
would be great
7Oaks: much better last season and expect them to improve
CVPM: Collins is now in charge and you would think they would
have a few quid passing over there ground to greenwich
Corinthians: because they are always in the mix
Crowborough: they are my dark horses, i have no idea why they
just are

I would not rule out Tunbridge Wells being in with a shout.

Jockeyclub, I fear that you are right with your comment in
parenthesis, if all goes well. After all, what could possibly go
wrong when, after telling everyone that the budget will be cut
and practically begging supporters to fund the club, all of a
sudden they are signing players left, right and centre, on top
of retaining the majority of last seasons squad. Something does
not add up, and fear that they could be relying on speculative
income (higher gates, cup income). Wouldn't be the first time.
Add to that the fact that a close friend of mine has learnt that
the league are not happy with the appointment of the new club
secretary, concerns have to exist about the future of the club.
Having said that, if the fragrant Mrs Peach proves capable of
doing her job successfully, and the budget for the team is
properly funded, then AUFC have to be favourites for the league.
I feel the roller coaster ride for supporters is far from over,
though.

I like the SCEFL line up for next season. With the three new
clubs Sheppey United, Bearsted and Whitstable being reasonably
well supported clubs I can certainly envisage United
s attendances improving. Tunbridge Wells, Crowborough and
Canterbury City matches at Homelands should also attract decent
gates. No doubt there will be plenty of competition but on paper
AUFC look very strong and must be in with a good chance of
promotion to the Ryman !

The SCEFL have confirmed the minutes of their recent meeting and
the clubs in the two leagues have been approved. Membership of
the Premier costs GBP300 and Div1 GBP200.
