Silverware

How would you rate Ashford United.s chances for some silverware
this season. They have progressed well in both the League
Challenge Cup and the Kent Senior Trophy and must surely have
good prospects of winning one or more of them. For the league
title I think their main competitor is a rejuvenated
Crowborough. :'(

I would say United have a really good chance of winning
something this year. Danny Lye has added some physicality to a
team which was very good, but got bullied out of games. Results
this season have shown a growth in team mentality as well
everyone working hard for each other, and a never say die
attitude where we are snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
Having witnessed both cup final defeats of previous seasons, it
would be good to see some silverware for this team and the fans,
who still stick with the team.
I would also tip Ashford to finish top of the league this year
aswell.

Seen this on another site:

It seems that United have not applied for promotion. Surely a
surprise when they are performing so well and their league
position is the best for years. Or do they not meet the ground
criteria?

Since my earlier observation my belief that United will win some
silverware this season has gained momentum and I rate chances
of winning the KST as excellent and the Challenge Cup as very
good, especially given Crowboroughs exit at the hands of
Sevenoaks The league is more difficult to predict - is it a 2
horse race between the Crows and United ?

It would be better if Crowborough won it.
It would be very hard for the fans to take if Ashford won the
League but could still not take their place in the Isthmian
League.

Doubt the players would be too happy either.

Are my old home town of Sevenoaks still in the mix, or have they
dropped out of the picture?
Have to agree with Unicorn about how disappointing it will be
for the team and the fans to win the league and not be able to
get promoted, which I believe may still be the case unless there
are major changes at the top.
I feel pretty certain that a cup will be on its way to Ashford,
though.

Big cup semi-final at Homelands today, against their ground
sharing rivals. Ashford must be favourites to make the final,
but you can never be sure with a local derby.

Another step towards AUFC winning silverware this season with a
3-0 win against Canterbury City. All three goals were scored by
Adrian Stone and this puts United in the final of the KST for
the third time !The attendance was 231 which is pretty good !

Match reporter, Kevin Hall, called this a game between
landlords and tenants. Where has he been for the last 18
months?
