AUFC 0 Bearsted 1

A poor performance from Ashford today. Ryan Palmer looks out of
sorts and midfield failed to get hold of the game. Too many
long balls.

For some reason AUFC have often struggled against Bearsted.
Funny how some clubs give others problems, even with totally
different personnel!!

Lack of cohesion, idea's or shape.
Bearsted are a poor team with limited ambitions, who were not
made to work nearly hard enough for what they earned.
Quite frankly, the person who wrote the match report on the
website watched a different game, or is just fluffing up to try
and not put punters off from attending games.
You can forget about promotion with this group of players and
management as things stand.
AUFC are lucky to be second in the table after fortuitous one
goal victories away at Erith Town (a horrific excuse for a team
at this level) and Corinthian.
I think we are beginning to see why Ryan Palmer didn't cut it at
a higher level, whilst playing with little to no width and
pumping long, aimless balls forward speaks volumes to the
management.
I imagine some of you might accuse me of being upset after one
defeat but it's far from the case. You're kidding yourselves if
you don't see an inconsistent team who seem unable to put two
good halves of football together.
Sheppey was a prime example of the latter and they are a far
more accomplished team than three others mentioned in this post.
Same could be said for Erith and especially Corinthian.
There's a difference between supporting a team and pointing out
obvious deficiencies, and blindly following whatever the
shambles on the field.

It is so refreshing to read a post on any club forum where a
real supporter is willing to be honest enough to point out the
deficiencies of his team with passion, and quite obviously no
little hurt.
Results can lead to false expectations, and with rumours
spreading yet again of spiralling wage costs eating in to
finances I do believe AUFC are in for another roller coaster
season, but what else would your average fan expect.
