       Meeting with Supporters
By: AUFCfan Date: June 25, 2016, 4:16 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       From website:
""Ashford United officials are holding a meeting open to all
supporters this coming Tuesday evening, 28th June starting at
       19:30. Doors open at 19:00.
Meeting to be held at Sandyacres sports club.
The meeting is to bring supporters up to date with news and to
       discuss the new season.
All supporters of A.U.F.C are welcome to attend.
Come along and show your support, have a beer and catch up with
news from club officials and fellow supporters.""
Why are the website and social media outlets not being keep up
to date? (Bar responding to rumours)
These online functions are way more important than a meeting
that only some are able to attend.
Meetings nowadays should be used as a forum for ideas to be
discussed, supporters to air views and ask questions of those in
       charge.

Maybe because all the social media outlets are controlled by
Colin Hallybone who has left his position at United.

I fully support AUFCfan's arguments that Meetings should also be
used as discussion forums and not top down lecturing !For the 28
th June get- together I believe there are plenty of topics
       worthy of discussion, eg,
-What is the CURRENT position re ownership of the Stadium
-Is a Supporters Club going to be formed
-Is it possible for a AUFC Trust to be set up
       -How to increase attendances
       -How to increase programjme sales
-Is a 100 Club going to be established
-Is a Player Kit sponsorship going to be organised
-how to boost MATCH AND MATCH BALL SPONSORSHIP
-Cant more fund raising events be organised
       -

Completely agree that meetings should form the basis of a
discussion for all the online topics, but with divide and
conquer being the ongoing theme of United I don't forsee
anything like that. Probably a few positive lines of spin,
promises of court action that are ongoing (and set for a
Tuesday) and he possibly couldn't say more (but will, just to
draw you into the charade) and ending every speech in a
positively enthusiastic tone and "Upwards and Onwards"
As for the rest, well I know some of the answers:
-What is the CURRENT position re ownership of the Stadium
The current ownership rests with VBar, Land registry confirms
this, There is a buy back clause for the former owners, which
expires before the end of the year, but with our current owner
suffering finanacial difficulties (See the I Spy thread) it may
be a bit of a push to raise the 6 figures needed to buy back the
stadium. That is not to say it cannot be done, the funds were
available from a 3rd party, but it required giving up 50% stake
of the team. suffice to say the offer was declined.
-Is a Supporters Club going to be formed
-Is it possible for a AUFC Trust to be set up
       -How to increase attendances
Simples, get rid of the current owner, theres t least 20 people
who have been banned from watching games come back. On a more
serious note, the man does more damage to the reputation of the
club than is possible to measure. Its generally accepted that
success breeds support, which increases income, which can be
invested into the team, which makes it more successful......etc
etc...... In what was our most successful season since
reformation (FA vase, a cup final and a huge push for promotion)
people will only remember it as the season Ashfords team once
again ran into financial difficulties, lost the stadium, had 10
points deducted and the owner once again made a mug of him self
telling all the press that VBar are scammers and were the
perpetrators of fraud to aquire the stadium.
       -How to increase programjme sales
The programmes run at a loss of around £100 a game, this is
because so many bridges have been burned with local companies,
that few Ashford companies want to be associated with the club,
this means that the ridiculous full glossy 30 pages are done on
a run of 200 (50 more than the average attendance)
-Is a 100 Club going to be established
-Is a Player Kit sponsorship going to be organised
-how to boost MATCH AND MATCH BALL SPONSORSHIP
-Cant more fund raising events be organised
With the stadiums owners wanting payment for anything above and
beyond matches at VBar (Kingsnorth) stadium, any fundraising has
to start by hiring a venue. We did have a couple who worked
their socks off raising awareness and promoting the club, often
at their own financial expense. The midget banned them from
       Ashford matches.

-Is a Supporters Club going to be formed
There is one already running, Ernie Warren took over as chairman
at the end of last season. I believe he will be arranging a 100
       club.
By the looks of it everything will be run out of Sandyacres
except for matches and/or training. If you want to see the
owners this is where you will need to go or to away matches.

       Hello everyone,
I'm new here but have been reading posts from afar.
I was at the last meeting, and without joining sides... I
thought it was ok, Crosbie did say they would hold more such
meetings, and have arranged this one.
Many weren't happy they didn't know about the last one. So In my
mind it's everyone's chance to attend and raise any questions
you have directly to club officials?
       Are many going from here?

Why are the website and social media outlets not being keep up
to date? (Bar responding to rumours)
These online functions are way more important than a meeting
that only some are able to attend.
I'd disagree with this view (which will probably receive an
emotional backlash); the website is not perfect but is much
better with updates regarding players, Lysie thoughts, and pre
season friendlies (inc a response to rumours). It's way better
than before, just look at the Ashford FC site. Very little
updates since CH took over. Clearly they are not going to
discuss VBar stadium on there. The league are said to be
       watching the club very closely.
It important to have face to face meetings, not everyone uses
social media, and gives the opportunity to discuss topics in
person, clearly this won't suit the keyboard warriors however
       everyone gets a forum.
Club are trying, have publicised the meeting, so let's go and
share our thought in a challenging and constructive manner?

Not wishing to sound negative, but have been to previous
meetings with DC, and I am certain that this will be no
       different.
He will talk a lot, but say very little. He will avoid anything
that he doesn't like, whilst seeming to answer. He will make
promises that will not be kept, blame everyone else for the
problems with the club, but take no responsibility for anything.
The gist of the meeting is almost certainly to be trying to get
all attendees to cough up money to keep the club afloat.
This is one keyboard warrior who won't be attending, and would
probably be refused admission if I tried.

Welcome to the forum JustLoveMyFooty, glad you took the time to
join up and post. Please feel free to join any side you like and
       have any opinion you want.
Many were not happy with the secrecy of the last meeting, but it
was all done very Crobie-esque, a simple matter of divide and
       conquer amongst fans.
I will not be going, as i agree completely with
ConfusedofAshford's take, and if i am going to waste an evening,
there is a lot better company to do so with, than that of Mr
       Crosbie.

Completely agree with this, well apart form the keyboard
warriors part, the website is 100 % better in close season than
at most points during it, and Neil deserves the credit for at
least trying, and keeping it updated. And if the way the club
chooses to respond to legitimate concerns raised through this
forum via its website, than so be it. The social media part,
well as i posted before, those belong to Mr Hallybone and he
left the end of the season, and as such it seems no-one has
       taken up the mantle.
